Hi there, this is my first post in this forum. I have been doing a lot of reading here and I find this whole reality exploration very interesting - wow, there is a whole other world out there, or in here, or whatever term you want to use and people can travel to it by using different techniques.
I must admit that I feel a very great pressure at this very moment as I am writing this. Whatever I am going to write now can never have the same depths and perspectives of some of the other posts I have seen here. I feel somehow as if I am a drunk stupid person invading a party where I simply do not belong.
With that being said I still have many questions that at least have some relevance towards me.
The one thing that has been bugging me all along is.... you. All you people in here. How come that you do not have so called "flame wars" and that you always write in very polite tones (at least you have done so in the posts I have written). You all seem so clear on everything about life. I personally have a great fear of having an opinion on how everything is where we are going and what our mission is and so on. I am startled when I read that some of you actually think you know what life is all about. One of the statements that I get most upset about is where you say that we make up our own meaning with our own life. That we each have our very own path that we must follow. I get very upset because I have actually NO IDEA of what I am doing here and of where I am going and what my so called "goals" are.
Well, I usually turn to these forums when I feel bad about my self and my life hoping that I can then return with new "weapons" and beat the "monsters" in my life.
You all talk about this astral travel and many of you astral project. I have tried that for some time but I have never even tried having the vibrations. So I stopped and thought for a moment - why was I even doing this? Why was I trying to travel to a new world and then it hit me.... I was trying to escape this world because that I could not deal with the problems at hand.
That has made me think of if we are even meant to travel to this other (fantasy??)world when we are here on earth, nice and physical and all what that involves. This might be me being the odd one out, but I might have been reading about spirituality when I was meant to do other things like get in shape, or do my homework or hang out with my friends. This is what I mean by "escape" – at least that is what it seems like to me I just wanted to know if there are others here who might share my thoughts
Is the spirituality not the last step of our learning? Are we not supposed to learn everything we can here on earth about earth and how to be successful here about how we can sort to say "win" here?
According to much of the things I have read here we have an eternity to live in the astral planes. Why do we seek to learn everything about how to live in the astral planes and prepare for death when we are going to learn it anyway??
I am sorry I have made such a mess of a post but I felt that I had to start somewhere and i just feel so d*mn confused about everything
And hey I am Danish, so that excuses my lousy grammar ;)
Hi Seeking of Matter
Welcome to the forum! That was a very perceptive post. I think you`ll find that many of us here are in the same boat as you are. We`re all looking for answers to the same questions you pose, and sharing our thoughts on a board like this can be helpful for everyone. It`s not always easy finding answers, and overcoming self-doubt and fear can be a long and difficult process. It certainly was in my case!
I`m sure you`ll fit right in here and I`m looking forward to more of your posts.
By the way your English is great!
Happy Trails
Welcome first of all.
Well I think the reason there are no flame wars is because a lot of people here are pretty enlightened. It takes a certain amount of enlightenment to do the things here as well. Plus a place of knowledge generally is neutral ground for anyone. Whether someone is good or bad, or has conflicting religions, those things get put to the side in pursuit of knowledge.
And you said you do homework so(assuming your not in college) I assume your in high school. Don't be concerned with not having a lot of answers right now. You are really young. It is right that we all have different paths and only the individual can figure out his/her path. I have a general idea about life and what it's about but I am learning new things every day. A good place to start(for me at least) was by reading a lot of philosophy(Buddhism, Taoism, etc), religion, and learning how to meditate.
If Astral Projection is just a means of escape I would hold out on that for a little while. While life has it's ups and downs and is a wheel of suffering, overall it is a pretty good thing.
And to answer your last question: It's all about the process of learning and overcoming obstacles(whether it be ignorance, adversity, etc.). Although I haven't contacted my 'Higher Self' yet, from what I have read and from what I feel, our souls are near perfect beings. So the reason we come here is to experience imperfections, strife, and just start over. So the reason we struggle and strive to learn things that we already know is because it's not about the destination...it's the journey.
You shouldn't be putting so much pressure on yourself. A majority of people don't know why they're here or what they're goals are....and that goes for some people belonging to this group as well. Discovering your spirituality is supposed to be a road you take to knowing yourself- not an immediate answer to those questions.
Also, I wouldn't consider astral travel or any sort of meditation for that matter....an escape. If anything hanging out with friends mindlessly playing video games or sitting on the couch staring at a Tv is an escape. Working on the soul and learning to see beyond what's in front of you is essential, I think, like exersize and socializing. Just because you're here to 'live' this life and experience life doesn't constitute ignoring your spirit.
In response to "Why do we seek to learn everything about how to live in the astral planes and prepare for death when we are going to learn it anyway??" I think you might be confused about the point of astral travel. It's not to prepare yourself for death...it's a road taken to help achieve enlightenment. In the astral plane not only can you go to some amazing places and see some amazing things, but you can also speak to your 'higher self' or spirit guide (whatever you'd like to call it) and get insight about your life and probably the answers to why you're hear and what goals you've set out for yourself.
So, I strongy strongy urge you to just keep an open mind and heart and continue meditating. Let yourself be curious about things like astral travel without holding yourself back. It's worth it ;) Good luck! Hope this helped a little.
The more you learn, the more you come to understand how little you really know. When you realize that you don't know everything about a certain subject, it's a lot easier to to accept that others might have experienced stuff that you've never experienced yourself, and that different people may have had the same experiences but in different ways.
Flaming someone who is right will only make you look like a fool, and even if he/she was wrong it might have been a simple misunderstanding of the situation, and as such nothing to get upset about really.
Why do we try to figure this out now? I'd say curiosity is an important factor. If we can visit different areas while we're still alive, then we naturally want to do so. Why do we try to predict the weather when we'll know anyway in a couple of days? Why do we try to fly to the moon? Why did we send a probe to Mars? It's the same curiosity :)
Hi Seeker of Matter,
I'm a new member (as of today), and your post was my first read, your comments were interesting.
Pertaining to "escape" via astral travel, meditation, quiet moments alone, etc., my thought on this is that its okay to periodically escape this rat- race we call living.
Sometimes the energy of this physical reality (world), and people can be a bit overwhelming. There is a lot of negativity out there, but aso there is a lot of positive energy. Ask yourself, which form of energy do you want to tap into. You do have a choice.
The thoughts of our mind are made up of energy, and vibration, so we tend to attract what we think. Positive attracts positive, and negative attracts negative.
It appears that you have a curious/questioning mind, continue to do so in a positive frame of mind, and you'll become wiser than most.
I feel that the astral plane has information that we can tap into that is not available on this physical plane.
Warmly,
Castlewood :D
Hey thank you all very much for your replies. It really helps to see what happens when you tell a story and other people look at it with their eyes and make you see things you did not notice before.
Scorpyn I really feel I can relate to what you wrote:
"The more you learn, the more you come to understand how little you really know"
it is kind of what I am feeling right now. I have this irritating voice in my head that tells me that this reality is simply to vast to comprehend and that is torturing me now when I DO seek to comprehend what I encounter.
Major Tom, thank you for your reply, I have seen your posts all around this forum and I am still amazed of the wisdom you possess. But I am still having my doubts about if I am even meant to explore other realities when I still have a great amount of unsolved riddles and things that annoy me here in the physical.
I fear that I might "loose" it one day in favor of the astral world - a world that as far as I can understand, you are actually able to create just by thinking of how you would like it to be. Then why are we here? Is it not to be faced with problems and overcome them? I feel that there are many many problems here on earth and many many things I need to understand before I may travel to another reality - with other problems.
I do not know if this is just me having these thoughts/doubts of the purpose of alternate reality explorations.
Very roughly said I think we should finish our business here on earth and only when that has happened should we explore new worlds - but that might again just be me who is having difficulties with coping with problems that it fills up my mind and make me have these opinions that only apply to me and nobody ells
And another question. Do you think that enlightenment has made you happier than before? And by happier I do not mean seeing the broader perspective - which I guess you do. But do you feel that inner happiness more than before or have you lives just become more burdened with the knowledge of how things really are?
I am sorry for all the blabber but there are just a lot of things in life that mystifies me and occupies my mind – at least at the moment.
And once again thank you all very much for you replies :)
