Is this some OBE or lucid dream?

Ok so, yesterday I was going to bed at around 2 in the morning and I was very tired so I layed down and thought it'd be fun to try to get a OBE even though I've never had one and I don't even know how to actually do it. I eventually fell a sleep and somewhere in the middle of my sleep I had this amazing dream where all of a sudden I was flying in the orange skys / clouds (very very beautiful sky) and I've never had anything like this. So I recall someone telling me that a OBE feels no less real then typing on your keyboard. But the problem is I couldn't hear any sound while I was flying in the air no wind no nothing just silence, and I was flying in the amazing skys of a other world. I was very excited and my dream ended, it only lasted a few seconds but I've never had anything like that. I want to have more of these!

For myself, it all comes down to how consciously aware you were DURING the experience in question.

If you knew, at the time (not after you woke) that you were dreaming, then it was, at the very least, a lucid awareness experience.
If you didn't know you were dreaming, then it was a dream awareness experience (aka: a normal dream).

If you knew you were dreaming AND you had what I call a "waking awareness" (you knew exactly who and what you are ie; human sleeping in your bed, with your full waking memories) then it was an astral awareness experience.  :)

So the question is... how consciously aware were you during your experience?

Without having an answer to Xanth's question I couldn't tell you for certain. However the way you describe it makes it sound like an OBE. I get a lot of OBEs that don't last long where I'm just a point of consciousness flying over some place. A couple days ago I had one where I flew over what appeared to be ocean littered with icebergs. I didn't hear anything but I could feel myself descending/ascending.

the real question is, who cares?

you're having experiences, keep going and explore!
be awesome.
