I've only been interested in astral projection for just over a month, so I'm not bothered that I haven't projected yet, because it seems that it takes quite a while to be able to so but i just thought i'd try and check I'm doing the right sort of thing.
I've been keeping a dream diary since my interest started, and whereas i used to have (or remember) maybe one dream every month or so, I'm having/remembering up to about 5 per night/morning. I've had 1 lucid dream (which i haven't had since i was a kid - I'm 17 now) which was very short, but then caused a false awakening. I've had a separate false awakening, and that's basically it.
When I'm in bed i tell myself over and over again that i will have lucid dreams (as I've read that these can be relatively easily converted to OBE's) and that I will astral project. I focus on my breathing and imagine what it would be like to separate from my body and walk around.
Does it get easier to continue the focusing/giving yourself suggestions as you get closer to sleep? As i find that I'll be doing what I've said above, then after a while realise that I've stopped because I'm tired, so i carry on as much as I can.
Obviously everyone is different, but does it sound like I'm doing the right sort of thing? Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Hi Michael,
It definitely sounds like you're getting closer. Increased amount of dreams is a sure sign of getting close. Keep doing what you're doing. Be sure to check out my post in the Astral FAQ regarding the technique for entering the astral from a dream.
You don't need to give yourself affirmations as you're drifting to sleep; during meditation is fine. However, if you keep it in the "back of your head" as you're drifting off to sleep, it can help you remember to pull the projection out of a dream.
Best of luck,
Jeni
