That sounds like good progress to me.

I spoke with a professional hypnotist once and she informed me that, when you are trying to get into a more relaxed state, laying your arms above your head or behind your head will remove stress and tension from your shoulders.

I have found that method to work well in the past.

The neck and shoulder areas are hard to relax, they have so much built up tension.

As for the feeling your foot in your hands, I believe that is a good sign you should look for, in my experience and from what I have also read, it signifies your cutaneous senses being shut down, and your mind does not "know" where your other body parts are due to that lack of reference.

QuoteThe neck and shoulder areas are hard to relax, they have so much built up tension.

This is sooo true. I found this out the hard way at the chiropractor earlier this week when he was trying to rub a tense knot out of my neck. I sit at a desk and write code 10 hrs a day and my neck and shoulds get very tense. I don't think people realize just how tense.

I think staying in shape could possible help produce better results with OBEs. During the summer I ride my bike here in Austin about 10 miles a day, which is not much but I am sure it helps release tension.

Tension is built up throughout the course of the day,

It is built by the constant strain we put on our spines and  from sitting, running, biking, all sorts of activities,

I highly suggest to all of you novice and advanced alike.

Try your projections in the morning. There is a reason why it is easier.

Your body is almost fully relaxed upon waking, you are stress free, you also have a minimal amount of chatter running through your mind.

If you find it preferable to try after your day, obviously other techniques need to be employed.

- Hot Shower to ease sore muscles
- Stretching to loosen stiff joints
- Listening to relaxing music to calm you down
- Meditation to calm the chattering thoughts

Many more things are needed to get you into the most comfortable state.

If you are beginning please give this a try!

Just set your alarm an hour earlier.
Sit up in your bed and start your exercises!

Everyone will tell you;

Relaxation is one of the most important steps!!!!!
