Title: Laying Down Projection-Related Question
Post by: fredhedd on April 29, 2003, 13:45:01
i have definetly read about both.  i'm sure people have had success w/ either way.  i rememeber reading a post here a while back about different angles.  unfortunately i don't remember what it was titled.

if you feel more comfortable focusing on one point than another, then just keep doing it until you feel otherwise.  let us know how it turns out.

Fredhedd: Yes, I will continue at it. Since this feels more natural for me, it occured to me that this might be a popular angle method most other people follow.

I also feel more natural climbing a rope that is parallel to my body while lying down. I will put some more time into it and see what results I can get.

Robert Bruce mentions this alteration of the ROPE technique in Astral Dynamics. I think he calls it "traversing the ravine" or something to that effect. I too have found this to be more comfortable sometimes.

I've done this, sometime rope, sometime stairs. At one time I practically uses my index finger to crawl, lying on my back.

But getting out through the wall is not really what I had in mind right now.

One thing that I have found to work for me well is. I imagine myself on a beach at sunset lying in a lounge chair with my feet toward the water, and the chair back is just past vertical so if you are sitting down you are leaning back a little bit like you are in a recliner, alright back to the image. You sit in the chair looking out to see with the sun just beginning to touch the horizon. I sit there watcing the sunset for a while until I am very relaxed and calm with very few thoughts. At this point I imagine a tidal wave appear in the distance, it looks small at first and grows as it draws closer. I imagine it eventually hitting me with the force of what I imagine a tidal wave would feel like. The wave does not hit my physical body though only my astral. Often times this works for me, but make sure you have some empty space behind you for about 2 meters as I get pushed back about that distance and depending on the material you pass through sometimes the shock of passing through brings you back to your body. This is what I do because the ROPE technique never worked for me, and plus it has a naturally built in relaxing technique of looking at a serene scene. This does require visualization, but using tactile imaging you could do something like this form of impact exit.

L.S.: Do you lay down, or sit up? Sounds like something that would need to be done sitting up.

Everyone: I woke up today. It was 5, so I had about 5 hours of sleep. For the past 1/2 hour (4:30), I had been daydreaming in between the waking and sleep state. I got the idea to try and project. I got up, walked around, read something.

When I tried to shift my focus to climb, I found I couldn't. I felt held back for some reason. Then I went back to sleep. Odd.

I got a question.

OBE is body's natural gift. how come it is SO DAMN HARD to master? Couldn't we just "switch on" and project eh?

Maybe because this function is reserved for later evolution, when we migrate to space, there it will be activated very easily.

Tyler: There are lots of reasons why we simply can't. Astral Projection requires a great deal amount of focus. It's one of the greatest disciplines I can think of. There's also the issues of unlearning what you have already developed as habits throughout your entire lifetime.

Last night, when I was laying down, I decided to go through the climbing procedure of ROPE. I must have been doing it right to have only been focusing on the actions over visualization (somehow, my un-learning process has been proceeding well).

As I climbed, my focus fell back (like a lever) to where my Crown Chakra is. I just kept at it from there and it got to a point where I started to feel buzzing / side-to-side waving. I'd say it took about 10 - 15 minutes of focu to get to this point. My body was still tense, but at least my focus was off it (for me not to notice until I stopped).

Unfortunately, I didn't project. I was hoping through.

I'm wondering if, when laying down, it is generally recommended that a person try and project from the head (horizontally) rather than in a direction straight in front (or at a 45 degree angle)

In hindsight, it's recommended that, when sitting down, a person project straight up or at a 45 degree angle.

I've found that my focus has shifted there times before and that somehow, it's been easier for me to do it this way. I've always tried to project vertically, but maybe this horizontal method is better (even though it is awkward).

I just want to hear what people have to say.

Thanks.
