Title: Laying on my stomach instead
Post by: magic on June 12, 2005, 13:59:20
I was thinking that maybe I have better luck of having another OBE if I try when I´m laying on my bed in my stomach instead of my back. (my first OBE happened while on my stomach, waiting for sleep)
I´m having trouble falling asleep on my back and I relax better when not on my back, do you think I should do the whole relaxation, trance and OBE this way instead, the downside it of course falling asleep, but I´m thinking this shouldn't´t be a problem If I try this when I´m rested already.
Comment?

Hello magic,

From what I have seen, achieving OBE is hardest whilst on your stomach. If you're having trouble sleeping on your back (a lot of people do, including myself), then try lying on your side.

I lie on my side to fall asleep, and then pull my OBEs from a dream (see my technique in the Astral FAQ).

HTH,

Jeni

I have projected many times on my belly, some times I have projected with my hands on my head, some times on my side, no need to limit your self, choose a position that is comfy for you. :)

The only way I am able to project is when I am on my stomach.  I find that separating is fairly simple for me when I leave through my back.  Only once have I ever projected any other way, and that was on my left side.

This is probably because I am able to relax very deeply while on my belly, not so on my back.  Being on my back is awkward and uncomfortable for me.  I think that it doesn't really matter what position you're in, as long as you're comfortable.

I have also projected from my lying on my stomach.  It worked well, because I just pulled my astral body upwards and I came away backwards.  However, it has only happened once - but that is because I don't often lie on my belly.

Give it a shot - you've nothing to lose.  :)

With few exceptions all my OBEs occured while I was sleeping on my stomach. I sleep on my back only when I want a deep, restful sleep.

I've astral projected from all positions. While lying on my stomach, my astral form fell through the bed and I ended up under it and had to crawl out from under it.

I think it might be better for me to project on my back even tho I don't like sleeping on my back because I was finally able to astral project on my side earlier today and I think I had some kinda split consciousness thing going on because I got out of my body but could only see out of one eye because my physical body's head was halfway buried in my pillow and the eye that was buried in the pillow was the one I couldn't see out of while in my astral form. It was really annoying and uncomfortable and I think I was only out of my body for maybe 30 seconds.

Though one thing struck me as odd. There were no strange noises while I was separating. Just quiet. That's the first time that's ever happened. I thought there was always supposed to be some kinda noise. Guess not.
