Hey Draege,
I haven't had a successful obe yet, but I'm trying. :) I think I have trouble because when I get all tingly I start to "feel" it in my body. Where, what I'm starting to think now, the real point is to "forget" your body. Just let it sleep and be. Forget it by concentraiting 100% however you are focusing whether it is breathing, energy raising, or exit techniques...
I find I reach trance when I forget the body. You said this worked for you too: "Towards the end I gave up on techniques or trying to imagine feelings and just thought I'd try and force my mind into a lower conciousness (i.e. near sleep). Wow did that work." You ignored your bodies sensations and just focused on concentrating your mind. Keep that up!!!
I think that's good that you just stayed there in the heavy vibrations. I guess you want to get used to that, like trance, so that when you reach that level you aren't excited and throw yourself out of it. But if you do want to get out, I believe that is the time you try to trigger the projection either by bouncing your mental focus to a point outside of your body, or by rope, imagining you are rolling out or some other technique. Again I'm not sure, because I haven't gotten out yet...
The one itme I did have heavy vibrations I got astral vision... did this happen to you? I also am having trouble relaxing when sensations start. Keep up the focus. Sounds like you're really close.
Congrats Draege!! If that phone wouldn't have rang, I think you would have made it!
I can relate with the body parts feeling twisted, my hands seem to do this a lot. It always seems to be a good indication that things are off to a good start.
Yes, you should focus on a exit technique when the vibrations come. You are soooo going to do it next time you try!! [:D]
Good luck!
Nay.
Yeah, I usually feel as if my hands aren't in the righ place, as a distraction, when I begin meditation. This past mediation I managed to get into a nice trance and the room was really spinning... I believe I either became tense or my mind started to wander (which it did start to dayream scenerios) and the spinning stopped. After it stopped it felt like my head was all turned to one side krinking my neck, although it hadn't moved at all. Just another sensation we have to try and focus past to me.
Good luck once again!
Not that am an OBE expert (only had 2 thus far), but heres my 2 cents. I have read quite a lot on the subject, heres what I know from what I've read:
Most theories say that when you reach the vibrations to "exteriorize your conscious outside your body", whatever the hell that means. And also create "seperation pressure" on your projectable double.
However, Robert Monroe's earlyer technique was to feel yourself "reaching out" or pulling towards the vibrations with your projectable double.
So yes, I think the answer would be to use an exit technique. I would suggest one that doesn't require sight visualization, but rather focuses on the seperation feeling...
For me, getting the vibrations has always been the near impossible thing to do. While exiting was just a matter of getting the vibrations then imagining feeling lighter and lighter floating up in a nice cloud..
Good luck!
I haven't had an OBE, either. I think I'm doing something wrong. I use BrainWave Generator and Deep Mind 5.. and I just relax. But I just listened to an audio that doesn't use BrainWave Generator, only memory and relaxation and time... I wish I could figure this out.
Today I went for a 60-90 minute OBE attempt. Took me a long time, probably 3/4 of the way through before I got my first vibrations and they were the same as my previous experiences they lasted maybe 10 seconds then dissapated. At this point though I was so out of it meaning I couldn't feel my body or at least it was to the point I didn't know what I was feeling. Either my body parts were twisted akwardly or I was simply a puddle of goo, that's how it felt. Towards the end I gave up on techniques or trying to imagine feelings and just thought I'd try and force my mind into a lower conciousness (i.e. near sleep). Wow did that work. So on come vibrations and I swear they lasted a full minute I was just lying there doing my best to stay calm and relaxed and wondering what I do now or if I should do nothing at all. Vibrations going over me feeling like my entire body was spinning in one direction, then another, then another, my body moving to one side then back and forth la la la... Then the phone rings loudly and stirs me DOH.
Well, so far it was my longest vibrations time which I think is a sign of some progress. Do vibrations even normally last that long? Don't get me wrong, for me personally its an amazing feeling actually and I enjoy it. But I thought I read that once the vibrations come on all you have to do is sit back and relax but this doesn't seem to be the case for me? Everytime before this the vibrations have been broken shortly by heavy breathing and/or being unable to relax. Should I focus on an exit technique when vibrations come on?
