Have not posted here in ages but had a few things on my mind I wanted to get feedback on...I was in a state , cant say I was out of body but i sure was someplace else, maybe lucid dream. Anyway, I heard this incredably loud vibration noise that was was a blend of the universe just running if you will like a car engine. It was excrutiating and scared me badly, as soon as I woke up I was terrified I felt like an ant. What was it ( iknow) but why? What was the point? have you heard it? I knew if I stayed subject to it, I would not have survived it was that powerful.

Sound very much like you had..... ze old vibes? The sensations you describe are very common to OBE attempts.
As to what the point of them are. The vibes mark a boundary, both real and imaginary. These vibrations are there to help you by hindering you. Ride them. Ignore them. Haha :-D
I'm willing to bet you would have been just fine though.
Your post made me laugh because it reminded me of the first time I had my OBE. I described it to people as "it was as if a jet engine had landed in my ear blaring loudly!" Oh yes, this world is more than we think huh? Isn't it beautiful! The average person would look at you and tell you you're nuts! LOL!

I make no separation between the two. If you're having a Lucid Dream, then you're already "out" of body.
I view all states (dreams, lucid dreams and astral projections/out of body) as happening within the same area of consciousness. What differs between them is how consciously aware you are during the experience.

That's a very normal thing to hear when on the verge of, or while separating.
The more you do it, the more you'll encounter it and the less you'll be afraid. :)

Hello all, hope you are having a pleasant holiday, or will tommorrow rather! I am sorry I failed to give much info on this post. I have had many OBE's and I lucid dream frequently. I know the vibrations that many of you referred to in response, I used to think they would kill me and then I would get past them and in to my OBE. They weren't fun but powerful. But this noise was waaaay different, if possible and you know how its all perception oddly, this noise was much much worse. I mean it was terrifying, I felt like a molecule in front of it. More like experiencing all the vibrations collectively at once. No doubt its just me realizing my insignificant self. So that's where I was at with it. Haven had an OBE for a while but the dreams are frequent. I love my dream life i feel as if I do have another existence altogether. Wells thanks everyone.

The "noise" is only kind of related to vibrations.
Think of the noise as the noise on a radio as you're dialing through stations.
You go from one station where it's clear and you're listening to music or talking... then you move off the station and it becomes all staticy... then you keep moving and you hit another clear station again.
Well that "staticy" part is, in effect, what you're hearing. You're moving your focus through these different frequencies, going from a nice clear one (physical)... moving through the static (the inbetween)... and ending up in another clear one (the non-physical). :)
