Title: Lucid dream or OBE?
Post by: justin35ll on April 14, 2010, 20:25:15
I woke up this morning at 7:00am thinking it was my normal time to get up for work. I got up, took a leak, and then realized I can sleep for another hour cause I really wake up at 8:15am
I got back in bed and tried going back to sleep for what felt like 15 minutes. Then I must have finally fallen asleep because I remember talking to someone in a dream and then all of a sudden I became slightly concious and I was in my backyard. It felt like early morning because it was light out, but not super bright. Everything was very clear and bright colors. (not like my normal etheric projections)
Then I started running and saying this must be a dream becuase I can fly! and jumped in the air and flew up almost a hundred feet above my house and was just looking down at the tops of the trees in my yard and flying in big circles over my house. I must have gone around 3 or 4 times just enjoying myself and what I was doing.

Then I remember coming back to reality and feeling my body laying in my physical bed. I thought the experience was over, but I decided not to move instead. And within a 10 seconds I could feel I was ready to seperate so I slowly let my self drift out and away from my body. I only got about 2 feet out and fell down the side of my bed and seeing my bed and floor. It was very hard to see and it looked gray and hazy.
Then I returned to my body and woke up.

Now I feel like the first one was just a lucid dream since there was no indication of a seperation and the colors were brighter and no hazyness.
But once I came back and got out the seoncd time that one felt like an etheric projection

Well, if you're anything like me and follow the Robert Monroe/Frank Kepple models of the non-physical... then you'd have come to realize that Dreaming, Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection all happen in the same place.

The only difference being how consciously aware you are.

So, technically, whenever you're Lucid Dreaming, you're also Astral Projecting.
Just when you're APing, your awareness is as close to "being physically awake" as possible.

So, how AWARE would you say you were?  :)

Yeah, I actually do go by that I would say I was maybe only 70% lucid. I never really have been able to tell the difference between a AP and a lucid dream. Ethereal projection feels different from them though.

Well, next time you find yourself lucid try this:
Focus on one particular aspect of the dream, exclusive of EVERYTHING else around you... then start asking yourself questions pertaining to it, yourself and how you got to where you are.
What this will do is bring the rest of your conscious awareness around for the party.
THEN... and this is easier said than done... close off your emotions and control your thoughts.
This will cause the lucid dreamscape to fade away and the astral proper to come into focus.  :)

The dream world and astral are two seperate dimensions running two different operating codes.

Compared, the etheric is like a world made of hard dough, the astral being softer dough and the dream world is like a hologram, the most dynamic and fluid you can find. It obviously vibrates much faster than the common astral dimensions. All these dimensions reflect down into the physical mind that can really make no distinction between them itself as it can not realize an existence beyond its own. That is why 1-2 days later you can't distinguish your projection experience from a dream anymore.
And the differences between these dimensions are subtle and people in the astral have forgotten that they do still dream.

kind regards,

Paul

Just to ease possible confusion... Tiny and I are talking two different theories.
He has his own theory, but I share Frank and Robert Monroe's thoughts on the subject... as I said.  :)

The first experience sounds like a lucid dream to me. The second I have yet to experience, but it seems to me that the two experiences are different. I had a lucid dream the other night. The lucidity lasted maybe 10 seconds, but it's very cool. I was looking at some beautiful scenery when I realized I was dreaming. I just kept looking around until it faded. The fact that you are there in that scene, being a part of it, and it is as real as life, but yet you are asleep, is truly amazing. I can't believe there are people out there who blow it off as "just a dream".

Hello
Justin

Xanth is correct in that Tiny and Xanth "Subscribe" to different methods and theories regarding OBEs.
It is a healthy "agree to disagree"  situation. That being said I am much more in agreement with Tiny's method and theory. And that being said I world take an educated guess that you experienced BOTH a dream and an OBE. The second part of the experience Was an OBE. Unfortunately it was confusing and short. The reason for this is that you had very weak astral awareness. And that is something that happens to many people, including me. Hopefully your next OBE will be much clearer and will last much longer.
