Since about May, I have been attempting to Astral Project with little success. I have always had some ability to lucid dream, and I believe that when I was a child, I used to astral project quite a lot. Recently I have been lucid dreaming more and more (about 2-3 times/night), and I am still unsure of how to use lucid dreaming to astral project. Could someone please provide me with some advice as to how to astral project from a lucid dream? Thanks :)

That's currently my main method for having projections... and I do so like this:  http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/2010/09/01/how-i-convert-a-lucid-dream-into-an-astral-projection/
Give that a read and lemme know if you have any questions.

I wish I had read this post last night! I had more lucid dreams and attempted to AP from them, but was again unsuccessful. I will give your methods a try - thanks!

The link isn't working for me.  Was it working when you clicked on it raprd?

I think starting a dream journal is a great first step.  Do that for a couple weeks and you'll probably just naturally start becoming lucid.  Good luck.  :-)

LoL

If you're referring to the link to my website above it should work... not sure why it wouldn't. :/
I use firefox as well for all my browsing needs.  Much more secure.  Especially with the NoScript addon installed.  :)

And I only buy wad-resistant panties!!  ^_^

  I had no idea it was your forum, no wonder why it didn't work.     But glories of all glories, it's working just fine now.  Go figure.   :-)

Unlimitedboundaries?  I do have a forum there, but that's only a direct link to my website which houses the articles I've written and the articles and videos that I have found to assist me on my progress.

You're more than welcome to join my tiny forum as well... but it's really not too active.
I have it more for people to ask me direct questions about the articles I've written.  :)

Becoming lucid is the only difficult part.

But as long as it's in the back of your mind it'll progressively become easier each dream. Affirmations before night or telling yourself during the day.

I remember being on Xanth's site, I think Frank mentioned that you have to focus your attention on some object in the dream until everything goes blank. Just hope you remain lucid/aware/concious in time before the dream ends. I think my dreams last longer if I go to sleep early. Plus I eat a lot of peanut butter.

I have had more success becoming lucid in dream than astral projection. Dunno why in the hell it's so hard. You'd think that by doing all the fundamental steps to projecting would be enough turn out to be not enough.

Yeah that's correct.
It's about being aware enough to remember to focus upon a single 'thing' around you (or on you).
The act of focusing removes you from the environment long enough for it to not matter... and long enough for you to start asking the appropriate questions to yourself to bring your full waking awareness forward.

Yeah, I was looking around on your website a couple or so weeks ago and noticed your forum.  I was happy to see it because then the feeling I had about the clique/group..etc. thing was not my imagination after all. whewww.   And I wouldn't join, I wouldn't do that to you.    I didn't remember the name of your site so I just assumed it was a random site, until it worked for me and I saw right away it was your site, the forums is what popped into my head and then it made perfect sense why the link didn't work for me.

It's all good, I understand.   :-)

I kept a dream diary for a while, but then I stopped. I find I am much more able to recollect my dreams now. I am also much more adept at making them lucid. I will try focusing on an object in the dream as well as focusing my thoughts. Thanks!

You find you are more able to be lucid and recollect when you don't keep a journal?

You should go back to keeping that journal, you'll find your dreams even EASIER to recall than they are now.  :)

My dreams every night seem to just try and make me become lucid by noticing something random that's going on, but even when I notice somethings outta place it doesn't click that it could be a dream, and when I try to project I accidentally slip into a dream before I can finish separating

Ummm.. I've never wondered why you keep telling me anything..  in fact I don't remember you saying this to me at all.  Perhaps you've expressed yourself to other people so many times you forgot I wasn't one of them?

Quite possibly.
Well, here you are Nay... you're your own worst enemy.  ;)

I did keep a journal and as a result I think I was better able to recall my dreams. I stopped for a little while, but on your suggestions I have resumed the journal.

I attempted your methods, Ryan, and a very strange thing occurred. It was probably around early morning when my dream became lucid. I am able to recognize certain themes in my dreams that make me realize that I am dreaming and one of those recurring themes is water. My dream immediately became lucid when I dove into a lake. I took your advice by asking the questions "where am I?", "Where am I going?", and "what am I doing?" (Although I forgot to ask myself "how did I get here?"). The dream kind of went a little hazy, but then it came back. So then I attempted the other method of focusing on a single object - I chose my hand. This seemed to work a little; the dream almost went away... but then one of the characters in my dream grabbed my wrist and pulled me back into it (pulling me deeper underwater).

I suppose this is now entering a more psychological field rather than an AP field... but is there any way to prevent or escape this? Or is this a good thing? I also recall feeling very tired when I attempted to keep the dream lucid for an extended period of time.

Thanks guys :)

This is a good thing.  It shows that you are going 'up' or 'ahead' in your development.  The water usually symbolizes your subconscious, so that your 'job' now is to get into your own head, deal with whatever comes up in this experience, and once you have gone through it, then you can go into the collective arena.  This is an essential part of your training.

QuoteI also recall feeling very tired when I attempted to keep the dream lucid for an extended period of time.
This is perfectly normal, which is why I usually advocate increasing your sleep time and doing energy work.  Not necessary, but helpful.

One thing that many people miss is that we teach techniques to 'get out' but don't really teach people techniques for what comes next.  It takes sometimes years for people to get out of the RTZ into the collective astral and so on and so forth (I am now stuck in between the astral to the mental plane, but am finally starting to make some headway)- because AP'ing is a process that goes through 'levels' or 'stages'- it is the nature of the experience.  If you know this and take the 'experiential' approach, it can be an adventure.
My recommendation in general for those who want to make this a lifelong thing:
When you finally get out, take the attitude of the observer.  Don't judge your experiences as 'only this or that'.  Try to figure out the symbology of what you get.  Keep a journal so you can see recurring themes or a developing storyline.  Try to fulfill whatever the scenario is trying to teach you.
Then eventually you will get 'in between' scenarios that incorporate both etheric (RTZ) and astral (dreamlike or fantastic) characteristics.  See what is required.  Sometimes it's straightforward, sometimes not.
Eventually you will have to change your approach- but the best approach is of the interested explorer who doesn't take things at face value.
Cheers.
CF.

Yeah, a journal is the way to go.  I've used a small hand held recorder for a journal, but you have to transcribe it at some point.  :-P

I'd like to get my hands on one, my hubby has one somewhere.  I think you miss less stuff when you can just grab it and turn it on and just talk.

I've considered that myself as a much easier alternative to pen and paper... but I don't want to wake up my gf sleeping next to me.  :/
Although, she is a rather heavy sleeper... I wonder if I could get away with this.  Hmmm... >_>
