why don't you take the easy way? lay down, relax, close your eyes and relax.
I go:
Physical relaxation by tensing/relaxing every muscle you can think of,
Full stretch,
10 deep breaths,
Close eyes and sit, get comfortable,
Focus on breathing in and out, I say in my mind on the exhale "I am calm" breathe, "I am peace" breathe, "I am energy". Dunno where I read that but I like it and use it.
Theres techniques for deepening your level of trance but I dont find they really work that well for me, unless I just havent given them that good a go yet.
The thing Im more interested in is what people hope to acheive through it (exept for OBE), apart from feeling very very very relaxed. Im keen to find a meditation book, but I havent had any suggested to me. Has anyone read one thats really good?

I would like to know what method or methods of meditation people are talking about here. That is in using it as an aid to projecting. If anyone can reply briefly-just a few sentences thanks. I'm most familier with Zen type where the goal is emptyness of mind. Does R.B. recommend a certain type. I'm reading the book now-just haven't come across anything yet.
