Title: Mental Projection
Post by: knightlight on February 21, 2006, 22:26:06
I recently have been clued into the idea of Mental Projection.  The more I work on this form of projection it makes me wonder if it is all my imagination, or something bigger?  Anyone have any ideas?  Any experiences?

Isn't this phasing?

Hi knightlight

Good to see you!  Tell us a bit more what you mean exactly by mental projection.

I think I know what you're talking about, but would like to hear more before I respond.

Thanking you kindly in advance.  :notworthy:

I guess it is kind of like phasing but  less involving.  I can mentally project and stay conscious.  Its kind of hard to describe.

Place your arm out in front of you.  Now feel a "mental" arm doing a loop while your real arm stays still.  You may even be able to mentally see the arm by focusing more attention to your third eye area and sort of looking for it.  It may seem like imagination but after a few minutes of doing this the arm responds just like a regular arm to me requiring no imaginative will to keep it stable and responsive..  Expand this to your whole body and that is the essence of mental projection.  It supposedly happens on the Mental Plane where phasing happens on the Astral Plane (a bit mystic I know but only way I can explain it).  Usually when I do this at night laying down with my eyes closed I am bombarded by image streams and cobweb sensations that I havent experienced since back in my beginning days.  I also was confronted by a woman claiming to know me and taken to her house.  The visual images seem to come from somewhere other than the usual spot that phasing and astral images come from.  Its all very light and airy.  I gotta go to work, I'll expand when I get home

I've always taken this technique to be a tactile visualisation. Such as I would use such a visualisation to create the sensation of walking. So eventually I would feel like I was walking, I would then add a moving "visual" visualisation, such as I a road moving under me, and scenery to the right and above etc. Maintining this could sometimes create a wake initiated lucid dream ie awareness of reality diminished as awareness of the created visualisation increased. Soon I would totally be in the visualisation and it felt as real as reality. I found this hard to do as it required a lot of substained effort.

I think such things beome maintained automatically after a while of visualisation is similar to how a mantra soon gathers momentum and so repeats on its own in meditation. it seems the brain can be entrained to an extent to continue a repeated task with less awareness if effort to that task is maintained.

This isnt at all how this feels.  It feels like it is all going on in the same area as my visualizations do, but they never really get that clear.  It feels like I could open my eyes and continue the entire thing just as clearly.  The images seem to be an impression turned into a faint image.  Dont get me wrong, I can see it all but it doesnt encompass my vision in that way.  Its like visualization on steroids.  I also do not start out with walking and add anything at all, I simply walk about in the darkness, or atleast this is all I have done in the past 3 days I have been working on this.  Everything that I encounter pops up on its own accord without any aid from me.

Its quite intriguing really, its like an aspect of projection that I have missed entirely in the past 3 years.  I have tried phasing, traditional OBE's, adding drugs, melatonin, hot temperatures, meditations of all sorts and I havent experienced anything like this.

The friend who told me about it also came to me via mental projection and via MSNM told me to look for him.  I focused hard and sure enough, there he was.  The funny thing is I havent seen him IRL before and suddenly there he is, in the distance surrounded by white.  He relayed to me that he could see me clearly looking at him and said I was trying to wave to him but it looked strange and stuttered.  I told him I was going to try to get his attention by waving but didnt mention the problems I was having which he seemed to see.  Sure, its not an exact verification but its really getting me thinking.  Anyone at all done this before???     Maybe im just nuts.  Its fun though.

It sounds to me like clairvoyance. You can percieve the astral or other worlds, including places in the physical (remote viewing), but without "leaving" your body. It's like seeing it in your head, but crystal clear, and can be done in waking consciousness.

Maybe?

Seems that may be the closest thing but its not really crystal clear...  maybe its just because I havent been working on it for very long.  It just seems different.  Its like a combination of projection and clairvoyance.  Seems I can only see FZ though... always pure blackness until I run into something or someone.  No success with the RTZ or F2/3 yet.

Does indeed sound almost like "Remote Viewing" but not on the physical plane.
I have always wanted to try something like this myself. So basically are you in a relaxed state first before you raise your arm and start doing loops.

Might give it a try sometime.

I recently bought the book by Bruce Moen called "The Afterlife Guide book" and this is exactly the type of thing he teaches.  He teaches how to use creative imagination to get into F3 (Frank's) and do retrievals, etc.  He says that you just have to believe.  He also says that he never fully goes into f3 and cant really walk around and be fully immersed in the scenery like phasing.  You might want to check it out.

Right on Han!  I guess that seems about right.  I remember hearing alot about Bruce Moen and was going to buy one of his books but never got around to it.  I thought he was a straight up phaser but it sounds like I have stumbled upon his technique somewhat accidentally.  I must say doing this every night causes some extreme lucid dreams.  After waking up from what seemed like a 3 hour lucid dream fest I decided to use this technique and walk about in FZ for a while but I ended up straight up phasing for the first time in a long while.  I guess its just a good technique for me all around!

More or less.  I have found it helps if I have a shot of liquor before doing it.  It just calms the nerves and allows me to focus properly.  I also found that having 8 shots before trying is BAD     But yeah, relaxation is all you really need and you dont need a trance because you kind of just build up a trance while moving your limbs and focusing.  The focus and belief is more important than the trance and relaxation.  You just sort of get into the Zone and go with it.

Actually, there's a guy called Franz Bardon who talks about Mental Projection and considers this to be a technique quite different from Astral Projection.  I think it involves deep physical somnambulism (near death) but I must admit I haven't  taken time to investigate what it's all about.  Here's one thread on the board:
