Last night, I woke up and stayed awake for about an
Hour before trying to project. In about 20 minutes,
I could feel numbness through my body. Nothing much
Happened from there so I decided to flip to my side and sleep.

(On my side, not usual meditation position) In about 10 minutes,
I felt a big vibrate feeling every other second. After about 30 seconds,
I started to see black and white flashes of what looked like a home.
In the flashes was a woman's face, which got progressively defined.
This only freaked me out, so I stopped and soon fell asleep.

What was this? Is it a sign for me? Any opinions help!

Control yourself, this is the start of visualisations.
Any fear and you'll lose it as you did. Go with it just looking but dont pay attention. It's wallpaper, they get clearer and you lose the physical body feelings too. Be calm and go with the flow. You're around half way when the physical is not noticeable. You feel like you're in your head only. It's part of it.
Keep going.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

During the attempt of achieving an out of body experience, one can see many different things. Dont be worried about seen things and continue your attempt.

The most visible imagescenes are no kind of sign. Some of them are attempts of astral beings to tell or show you something, but its only rarely something, what is more important than the knowledge of the number of numbers in yesterdays newspaper  .

Thats a vision of some kind .  It could be from you , a past life maby , it might be from some one else , a ghost or angel . If you see it again follow through and see what it is.

I've never achieved this by my normal meditation position. Does that mean that I could project better on my side? Or it mere coincidence that happened?

Yes, this is just a beginning. So, when you are getting any signs, don't be afraid of that and continue it.
