I have been projecting for a while, and have techniques that work for me- I have read a lot about Monroe but not Himself.  My question, for all you Monroe conossieurs, is:  Which one of his books would you recommend for someone who just wants it for good information, not so much as a how-to?  I know he started out with some theories and they evolved with him; so which one would you recommend?

I would say Ultimate Journey. It is by far, his most extensive and interesting book.

It discribes how the sum of his experiences affected him, what he realized and a few of his last travels.
The mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art, and true science. Whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead, and his eyes are dimmed.

But I would also like to add, that reading all his books provides a much more complete picture of how and why, he reaced the conclusions described in Ultimate Journey.

Yes, by all means, read the trilogy...

I didn't find the first book that interesting, mainly because most of what is talked about is considered more or less obsolete, and also because it's pretty "standard" OBE stuff -- it's a good read nevertheless.

It's Far Journeys and Ultimate Journey that truly "take the cake" -- reading these books has been a life changing experience for me. I think reading the first book is interesting to understand the background, also he makes references to his first book that you might not get without reading it (there is some time travel involved which explains experiences from the first book, but I won't spoil it for you).

I agree with the above. Although ultimate journey is perhaps his best work, you get a lot more out of it if you read the whole trilogy (they're not big books). I think it is amazing to see how he was pretty cool headed and sccientific in 'journeys out of the body', then you see this slip in 'far journeys' as he experiences a lot more. Then altimate journey is just fantastic.
Although I will say that these books do not paint a complete picture of Monroes beliefs and experiences, I've been told by people who knew Monroe that a lot of material was left out of the books for various reasons.

"Far Journeys was by far the most interesting of Monroe's three books. At the beginning of this book Monroe described the initial explorations of his talented team of OBEers and the start of the Monroe Institute.
Then he described encounters wiyh superior discarnate entities (Which he called INSPECS for intelligent species) These INSPECs told Monroe of their ability to transmit human souls (or human soul energy) to the far reaches of the galaxy via teleportation. Monroe also outlined his own history of the world in this book. A fascinating read.
