Im having breathing problems as well as I try to project. The closer I get to projecting, the harder my chest pounds and the more difficult it is to breathe. Its really hard to focus on getting out of your body if you have to focus on just being able to breathe as well

Hi Dark Apprentice,
It's okay.  This is quite normal.  It is only your Fear factor making sure it keeps control.

You can use your attention to bring yourself to the verge of OBE with Breathing, but then you have to let go of the control of breathing and just let it happen.  Not easy to do but it can be done.

Perhaps a few small imagination techniques might help ?   You could try imagining that you are a fish or other animal not able to get up to the air we humans breathe.  So you can go for an imaginary swim under the water, let yourself feel that you are breathing normally while you imagine the underwater swim.

By doing something like this very regularly you will come to realise that you can actually breathe while you are not focused on it !  Then go back to trying OBE and forget all about the breathing stuff except for the initial preparation.  Let nature take it's course instead of having to control it by Fear.

are you laying on your back?

Every book I read says "lay on your back" and when I do I find it very hard to breath unless I tilt my head to one side...for what ever reason my airway closes up when I lay flat on my back and makes it very hard to breath.

Cairnsb,
I started out in the 70's doing it on lying on my back, and eventually had good results, although I stopped using the Breathing techniques altogether.  I just focused my attention on the area immediately outside of my brow chakra/forehead.

The problem I found with lying down was sometmes I went to sleep when I didn't want, as I like to be fully aware at all times for Journeys.

Over the past 10 years I just sit in a chair and do it.  I found as the Jorneys progressed to 'higher' levels that the breathing problem was still there.  So I tried those visualization methods as described above and soon enough I was over it.  Now it doesn't ever bother me.
