Did I have an OBE last night?

Long story short, I've been trying to Astral Project for a long time now and have pretty much failed every try. Last night, I went to sleep at around 10:30pm. At about 1:30am I woke up. I was really tired and decided to go back to sleep. Few hours passed by and I suddenly felt awake, but my eyes weren't open. In other words, I had sleep paralysis. I wasn't afraid or anything because this has happened to me once before a couple of months ago. Anyway, I soon was able to open my eyes and move after waiting a minute or two. This makes no sense to me because I wasn't even trying to Astral Project. Do you think I might have had an OBE last night and don't remember it? I don't recall anything weird happening last night at all, so I just think it's strange I had sleep paralysis.

LOL! :-D

Sleep paralysis happens every time when the body falls asleep and enters REM atonia (whether you become aware of this or not!!!!!). You were just aware in sleep paralysis.

Btw, it doesn't count if you don't remember anything. It is not an out-of-body EXPERIENCE if you didn't experience anything. Thus, it doesn't count.

Here's something that might help you though:

The pre-sleep that you had might have caused you to become aware in sleep paralysis. What happened is that you denied your brain the REM stage earlier. The sleep cycle was interrupted. Because of this, your body took the first opportunity to enter REM as quickly as possible (like in narcolepsy) and didn't wait around for you, or the mind, to fall asleep (become unconscious) with it. Hence you were consciously aware of the ensueing muscle atonia and the "dream" vision.

You are on the right track to have an OOBE though, I must say!

Thanks for replying Summer. I just thought I might have had an OOBE without remembering it. I don't know. I assumed it was possible, but I guess not.

I read somewhere that whenever someone is in sleep paralysis they are ether leaving or coming back into their physical body. That's what made me believe I had some sort of experience. I probably shouldn't listen to everything I see on the internet.

I'll take some time and look at the link you gave me. Thanks again.

Cool. Yes, there's a lot of crap on the Internet. By the way, I didn't say it was impossible to experience it but not remember. You may have experienced something and now the memory of it escapes you...I just said it didn't count. :-D

But yeah...to me an OOBE is that which you remember upon waking. That which you experience consciously upon entering the Phase. Trust me, once you experience it, it will be hard to forget. Do read the link!

well I had a similar experience last year. I woke up in middle of the my sleep, but my eyes were closed, I could not move my body at all. I was able to hear my mom who was sitting right next to me when I was sleeping. I thought too I had sleep paralysis. It lasted for like 30-40 seconds, I tried to move my body but I couldn't do it. I even started crying in the middle of my sleep, cuz my eyes were closed, body was sleeping, and the only thing which awake was my mind, cuz I was able to hear expect see. I woke up after I aggressively pulled myself up.
