Depends what music it is. Dont listen to electric guitar. Binaural sound works well.

Hi zeer,

As beavis said, binaural works well. If you aren't sure what that is, here is a definition from The Monroe Institute website:
by placing a steady tone in one ear, then a different steady tone in the other ear. As these different tones are blended together in the brain, the binaural beat or wavering sound you hear is a brain-produced phenomenon. Such signals can stimulate specific states of consciousness, which are automatically learned and can then be recreated from memory.

For further information take a look at these websites:

Finally, if you like music, the Brain Sync people have a Deep Meditation CD that has the binaural beats but plays music over it. So you end up listening to a pleasant type of music which the binaural beats are also being played.

Very best,

Any loud music that is played will probably be too distracting. Obviously certain types of music are more appropriate than others. Rock and popular music are probably inappropriate. Also certain vocals and lyrics are most distracting. It takes a fine balance of conscious awareness that music is playing but a general disinterest in any particular aspect of that music.
This has been my experience anyway. Peoples tastes in music differ so what works for me may not work for you. So try different artists and styles of music.  [8D]

Music will put you into a trance state fairly quickly, as will watching television or reading a book. For me(when I tried it) was to make sure the music wasn't overly long, just enough to allow myself to get relaxed and calm my mind.

If the music is not distracting and it calms and soothes you then I think you should atleast try it. If I am not mistaken drums were used in more distant cultures for meditating and achieving a trance state.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Each person is a little different. There's nothing wrong with trying new things to see if they'll help you.

sure it can hold you here, but it can also facilitate obe, if you use it correctly.  anything that triggers your senses into a memory of some sort can be a good thing.  burning incense is a good expample.  try some calm, soothing music to help get your mind off of your body and see it if helps.  if it does then every time you use it to help you project afterward should strengthen the impact it will ahve next time.

Nope. Ill tell you something though, try remembering MUSIC from the astral/dreams. The most beautiful music can be heard. I have 2 songs that I remember hearing, No real instrument can be described, just sad somber music. It is wonderful to meditate and bring that music back into my mind so I can hear it metaphysically, as I hear my own thoughts sometimes.

Can music hold u back from obtaining and OBE?

I read somewhere that noise can hold u to reality but music calms me down.
