Dreaming - inner plane or astral plane?

This question has always been unclear to me...Robert wrote somewhere that dreaming is internal projection but it is also said that when we sleep we go to astral plane. So is dreaming internal or external phenomenon? Or can it be both?

Also, when you see your friend in astral who is dreaming, how do you get inside their dream to wake them? Do they have a bubble around them, inside which their dream is playing out?

I believe it is both, and what only seperates dreaming from the astral is sharing an experience with another / more beings.
