Title: My attempts and fails lol
Post by: Ashkara on August 28, 2011, 02:44:23
Hey guys I am new to the site but I am not new to Out of body.

I for the most part just spend my time reading about it and having experiences that are.. not quiet  complete.

Over the last week I have repeatedly come very close to having out of body experiences. Or so i think maybe you guys can help me better understand what i should do.

Normally i lay down and meditate  before sleeping. Without even waiting for my body to fully relax if i focus on the "3rd eye" area i almost immediately feel pressure. the sensation usually lasts for a maximum of 5 minutes and peters out if i do not progress from there.

Occasionally my body will fall asleep and i will begin to struggle to stay conscious. It feels harder to breathe and usually i become uncomfortable or feel the urge to move. Normally i give up and go to sleep. I have usually very strange dreams through the night. However upon waking up in the morning i often go back to sleep for a short period of time and will repeat this process.

Though in the morning i seem to have different results. Upon reaching the edge of consciousness i feel my entire body tingle and i feel my astral body tug, usually hard. though i often get afraid just naturally because i am not expecting it or i am in an uncomfortable position that hinders my ability. I am able to see though my eyes are shut and i can feel, but it feels like I'm touching someone else rather then feeling through my own body.

Please leave some feed back i have been practicing this for over 8 years with little to no results and i am wondering if there are others who have had such a significant fail rate like this.. or what i could do to lessen the shock  i feel and pursue  out of body travel.

Btw sorry for the horrid spelling its very late and I'm very lazy

do you lucid dream? mine happened when I came out of dream into waking, but my body wasn't awake yet. so then it felt like I still felt my "dream body" and I moved that one out of the physical. it was sortof a lucky fluke though, cause I've never come out of a dream into phase state before that.

Ashkara, you are going about it the hardest way by attempting to do it before sleep.  I know you are not new to this but you are still inexperienced and I can assure you that you will yield more results by becoming lucid in dreams - as thefarture pointed out - or by sleeping/napping first and then trying to induce an OOBE (the deferred method).

Take a look at this:
http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/how_to_have_an_out_of_body_experience_composed_by_summerlander-t34339.0.html

You will also find this site very helpful:
www.obe4u.com

When you wake up in the morning, do not go back to sleep.  You can recognise that you have woken up and then enter the phase from the hypnopompic state, or, you can get up, stay up for a little while and then go down to induce the experience. Robert Monroe also promoted the fact that such state is best achieved from a rested or refreshed condition - preferably after a nap or sleep.  Do not fear the sensations because there is no need.  You are always safe.  Keep still and persevere.  If you are physiologically primed, it shouldn't take you long to enter the phase.

Btw, I've been doing it for three years and my success rate just kept going up.  I simply stopped being scared and familiarised myself with the deferred method.  It works wonders for me.  Sometimes I also enter the phase via dream consciousness (lucid dreams).  The phase state can be entered before, during and after sleep.  The latter two provide a shortcut.  The first one is hard and even the experienced can struggle with it.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to Astral Pulse and good luck!  8-)

Agreed,
Night time projections are rubbish. Sleep, wake up, project.  People always try at night because its the most convenient time.  But youre conditioned to goto sleep then. An Astral Projection seems to happen mid point between being asleep and awake. It simply is a case of remaining concious whilst your body falls asleep.

Jumping into an AP out of a lucid dream (or is it the same thing? ) seems to be a good way forward. However I have found the AP not to be as sharp as people seem to talk about when doing that.

Patience is a virtue. I've been into this for 6 months and i can count on one hand the number of OBEs/APs i've had.
