Title: My body freaks out when trying to project
Post by: Orion- on July 28, 2011, 18:54:57
After some meditation I lie down on my back. I clear my mind and think of nothing for a minute or 5, until I "snap" and get more focus on my senses again. For example I suddenly see the back of my eyelids again. At that point, I either continue thinking of nothing, or I start visualizing. I really depends on what I prefer to do at that moment. I get a few more of those "snap" moments, and every time I check if my body is asleep. When I snap and feel that my body is asleep, I start climbing the imaginary rope.

Now here is where my problems begin. The first few seconds my heart rate goes up a bit, and I can feel that I'm exiting my body. I keep focusing on the rope and the feeling becomes stronger. When it's like I'm almost there, my heart rate goes crazy, and it's like my body releases a lot of adrenaline. Glands in/near my mouth start releasing a lot of saliva, forcing me to swallow it. These things make it extremely hard to focus and exit. What can I do to continue?

Note that I don't fear exiting at all. Not consciously at least. I've read in another thread that thinking of nothing can be very ineffective and that visualizing is better, but honestly I'm very comfortable with emptying my mind. I doubt that's the problem.

Orion,

It is about relaxing and observing the trance state. Sure it's exciting and you want to get out. Many people who start to project find a difficult time with being passive then lose the moment due to excitement. Just remember, you will always have many attempts at projecting every night when you goto bed. So don't think that this is the one for the world's record to go in the books. It takes time, patience and most of all goal setting.

And to add to what David is saying...

The "relaxing and observing the trance state" part can be/is just as rewarding as successfully projecting.  In essence, it's a meditation you're doing... and the benefits (along with gaining a connection to the larger reality) from that are many.

many people have difficulty just accessing the trance state.. so in all, just getting there is a HUGE step.... that is a goal in itself - even if it is premature and not completing the whole exit of the projection, never the less it's progress..

remember, slow steps...... its all about training and preparing...
