I belive after 6years of trying to have a obe or astral projection experience, I found i had a lost alot of confidence. After 8 years of constant meditation and energy techniques, i began to realize you wont go not untill ur ready, there are some signs u will began to notice before u are ready.
First the vibrations will just start happening then u will try opening ur eyes but u cant after pretty soon it will get to the point untill u just cant move after that, u will began to hear loud sounds and roaring these are helpful images to help understand when ur ready for ur first obe

Now i will explain to u my experience and what happened to me. When i had my first OBE. I belive i was lying in my bed watching some funny tv show on my laptop and then i drifted asleep when suddenly, i went into a dream with my sister and grandma this was weird cause at first, i normally dnt have dreams with my sister,But anyway back to my experience so, i was in my sisters room for some reason and my grandma woke me up and said go back to my room im cleaning up in here. so i went back in my room and then i saw somthing disgusting, here i am looking at my sister sleeping in my bed tinkling everywhere so i run in my room and say in a loud roaring sound get out of my room! then she starts crying after that i cleaned up the disgusting pee she left in my bed. After i lay down and then somthing pushes me near my back real hard, like a message of some sort anyway, I began to notice im dreaming then i realize this is a lucid dream wake up wake up wake up! when finially! i wake back up in my bed in the middle of some intensifying vibrations everywhere louds sounds wispering and everything u couldnt imagine, i was scared out of my bserk mind i couldnt move or tlk or do anything so all i did was focus on getting out of my body the first time i tried opening my eyes and i could barely open them then the second time i couldnt, after that i tried the third time then finally i was out i did the walk out technique and was out of my body
i was in my room  and everything was pitch black all i could see was me lying in the bed the door and the tv i felt sooooo light but it was amazing after i thought to myself i can fly i want to fly i tried controling myself but, it was way to hard i tried flying but everytime i went up i came back down after 40 secs the cord on my navel jerked me back in my body after that as i came back i felt the vibrations and loud sounds then from there i was sooo weak, i couldnt answer my phone or get up or do just about anything i was soooo weak, but after finally having my first obe ive still been trying to astral project.

I just want to say that you shouldn't try to open your eyes in SP as this could potentially ruin the experience. Aim to separate first and then, once you are out, you can worry about vision. On fear...just ask yourself what it is that you are afraid of and then face it. Know that in the Phase state nothing can truly harm you. Nothing.

Congratulations on your OBE, but I couldn't tell if it was recent or in the past that you had it.

The lucid dreaming techniques have always been the easiest for me.  You wake up gently and BOOM, instant sleep paralysis.  Takes more savvy than discipline in my experience, but lower quality projections than the ones induced by meditation from wakefulness.

How consistent has your meditation and energy work been?  Everyone has different karma and genetically inherited sensitivities.  I'm sure you have read this, but obtaining a certain level of confidence with Lucid Dreaming is a natural precursor to Astral Projection for many, as it is a safer and less abrasive version of A.P.  (No exit sensations, and the realm is your own and therefore familiar)

My school of mysticism suggests that the abilities come when room is made for them in the mind.  Those who project before ready are more open to negative experiences.  Mindfulness meditation is the tree trunk, and astral projection and lucid dreaming are two of the branches that bear fruit, but only from a healthy trunk.

Hey there AV2, welcome to the Astral Pulse!

I must admit that I'm rather confused about your Poll that you posted.  It doesn't quite make sense.  :)

To specifically answer your Poll question, "How long does it take before u elimanate ur fear of obe's?"... you might never remove 'some' fears.  But that's par for the course... it's like asking someone how long does it take before you eliminate your fears of living your physical life.  You probably won't ever "eliminate" them all.  I'd actually go as far as saying that it's "close to" an impossibility.

I believe this is partly true.  I say that because, for myself it took over 10 years before I became aware that I was successful... but it wasn't because "I wasn't ready", at least I don't believe it's that.  I believe it's because I was so overwhelmed by the information out there.  I tried to do too much and I wasn't clear on exactly WHAT it was I had to do.  That's a bad combination...

Very nice experience and congratulations!

Allow me to point out here though that, in my opinion, you actually had *TWO* projections in that experience.  Not just one.  ;)
The first was when you had what you labeled a "Lucid Dream".  A Lucid Dream, to me, is an astral projection... and actually, I'd go as far as saying you HAD an astral projection there because you knew you were dreaming AND you seemed to have a full "waking awareness" at the time too.

Congrats.  :)  Keep up the good work!

Greeting Astralvoyager2

Congratulations on you first OBE. It appears that you did have a lucid dream and then woke up in sleep paralysis (SP). Getting out of body during SP is actually easier because SP prevents the physical body from moving. And there is no need to be scared of SP, it is a normal occurrence that prevents a person from physically acting out their dreams each night.
One more suggestion is to try to get at least 15 to 20 feet away from your physical body during the OBE. The physical body usually distorts the astral body's senses and can sometimes prematurely end an OBE.
BTW You did see a cord connecting you astral and physical bodies together? That is known as the "Silver Cord". It is actually a topic of debate as few people actually see it during an OBE.

Congrats and welcome to the forum  :-)

As for the question in your poll. Some people are scared of sleep paralysis and hypnagogic/hypnopompic hallucinations. That's the main thing that prevents them from having an OBE.

So they first must realize it's ridiculous and pathetic to be afraid of those things. SP is there to protect our physical body, and the hallucinations are just that, pure fantasy, just ignore them and maintain awareness while you go deeper into trance with the intention to project.
This fire that has gone out... in which direction from here has it gone?
