Oh yeah, I forgot.  I actually did move out some... enough to start tumbling a little in the air and get into a position to see my body in the bed below me, but it was too "foggy"...   This was the main point of my post...  the "foggy vision".  Does anyone have any during-OBE fixes for this?

Don't flame me for this, but I like to rule out the "mundane" before deciding on the "non-mundane" answer. Could it be possible you simply suffered from lack of circulation when you woke up so suddenly? When you sleep (or lie down for long peroids of time) the blood in your body spreads out to "level" the other nessacary systems in the body. I think the blood suddenly rushing to the new locations, when you sat up, triggered a mental "block" or "phaze"...the brain wasn't recieivng enough oxygen and blood and all-so it stopped working the visual nerves and started trying to....pick itself back up again.

I wake up out of body sometimes. It doesn't happen very often, but for some reason it seems to happen more often when I'm on the ocean or near the ocean. I'm sure this has to do with the things I know, but won't say right now, because that's another topic altogether.

Could it be the possibly stronger gravitaitonal pulls the moon inflicts on the oceans? Your hormones and bodily juices could have been affected, as well, the same thing happens to me when I'm near the ocean.

I think that about rules out the "blurry vision"...perhaps you DID step out of body, out of desperation or on the peak of death, perhaps?

yea thats the only OOBEs ive had were my astral body was some were close to my physical, no projection symptons for me i just "awoke" and was out

One way to become lucid during a dream is to recognize any Obvious incongruity in that dream. Examples of obvious incongruities include, but are certainly not limited to -
Monsters and creatures (vampires, elves, dwarves, etc), [}:)]
playing in professional sports events (Super Bowl, Wimbledon, etc.), [:)]
flying or floating without a plane or balloon, [:D]
acting in a movie or tv show, [8D]
meeting a deceased celebrity or national leader (Elvis, FDR, Lincoln, etc). [xx(]

i always have a sword in like every dream but for some reason it just dont click that i could go lucid[:(!]

About ten years ago I had the two most memorable instances where I woke up out of body.  They were both before I learned about OBE.

The first one I found myself sliding over to my door off my bed and continuously pushing myself back towards the bed.  At the time I thought "what a stupid and useless dream" it lasted way longer than I would have wanted.  I thought it was just a lucid dream so I spend the whole time being drawn to the door for some reason then kicking off it and trying to get back to bed to wake up.

The second is closer to what you described.  I woke up staring at the ceiling and just thought to myself.  "I can fly to the ceiling".  It wasn't something I had ever done before but I just KNEW it was possible and sure enough I did.  I remember not realizing it was a dream/OBe then and I thought I had found a way to fly. (I was 15 or so so that's excusable).  I remember thinking "this is how you do it this is how you can fly".  Anyway my point is I think if you find yourself in that state do nothing more than will yourself to touch your ceiling.  You might be surprised to find yourself floating to it .. then from there you're far enough out to do whatever you want.

I suggest you leave your room right away, because of the fact to me leaving my room always suggested leaving "ghosts" and the nightmare part of the Lucid Dream.  I found the fear would leave if I could get out of my room and my house.  I think it was symbollic for me and if fear isn't a problem then do whatever you want.  I think now maybe it was the proximity of my body which made it hard for me to move which lead to fear.

Anyway, good luck.  I think finding yourself out of body is one of the easiest ways to project.

Ohh one more method which is almost guaranteed to work.  Roll out of your body if you find yourself "out" but not floating around.  Ive used this two or three times and its so smooth its amazing.

I do not have many out of body experiences. In fact, my first OBE was induced, and I've not practiced long enough to do it again.  Actually, I realize now that I should concentrate more on LDs in order to achieve OBE, but this is beside the point.  On to my topic:

I wake up out of body sometimes.  It doesn't happen very often, but for some reason it seems to happen more often when I'm on the ocean or near the ocean.  I'm sure this has to do with the things I know, but won't say right now, because that's another topic altogether.  Anyway, last night I woke up out of body again.  I fell asleep on the couch last night at around 2:00 am.  My brother is staying here in the condo with us, so I couldn't use the other bed.  When he woke up to go to bed at around 4:30, I took that bed and continued sleeping.  Later on, I woke up and felt very strange.  I felt as if I were hanging off the bed.  I could see, but not very clearly.  My vision wasn't just blurry, it was as if it were kind of "buzzy" ???  Almost as if it were digital and had all the lines skewed so that it seemed the pixels couldn't come together.  At first I was very excited, and I immediately tried to leap out!!!  This brought my heart rate up and distored the vision so I told myself to calm down.  Immediately I felt my heart beat lessen and I could see more clearly, but not quite clearly enough.  I reached out towards the ceiling and tried to stretch out, but the more I tried the less clear the vision became.  I don't understand this.  Usually, my problem is that I get too excited, but not this time.  I was calm!  I even saw "ghosts" and got scared, but was still able to remain "out" and concentrate enough to stay that way for a short time.  Then, it was all gone, but I didn't wake immediately.  I don't remember how the end went.  I think I just began dreaming again or just sleeping.  Can anyone give me any pointers?  By the way, can anyone help me LD better?  I've tried the journal and dream recall and stuff, and this does really seem to help...   I'm betting I just don't have the patience, or had not had the patience for that before...  ;-P
