I have started reading "journeys out of the body" and I have to say it's adicting with all the information in it. I have always had questions about life, religion, my existence, ET's and after reading this book it's like a puzzle coming together so I can't imagine the possibilities.
I have to say at this point I don't have an urgent need to experience an OBE just yet because in my mind I feel I'll be lost and not comprehend what it truly is, and according to Monroe thoughts and desires are a reality when projecting so my soul or astral body is not ready. Lte's just call it fear for now since I have read that it could be like heaven or the other way around.
Again I might be wrong in my assumptions but I am confident I will get to the point where I can better understand what I am capable of and hopefully with the help of knowledge from forums like this one with people who can guide me and reading more about it I will be able to expeirence OBE's.
Any thougts
Thanks
Ruben

Good! It reads like a novel, but for me it helped me understand the possibilities of OBEs from an advanced practitioner.

Fear was a big problem for me. Not really understanding and having false concepts of what I was expecting played a part in that.
It will save you time in the long run if you have some ideas about what can happen when you do start trying it. I'll give you some pointers that helped me at the bottom of this post...

Any thoughts
Here's my list-o
VERY important tips:
1. If you do have an OBE it is often
AS REAL as THIS is now. Repeat that to yourself several times.
I always thought it would be like some type of near-real lucid dream, altered state of consciousness, etc. No, no, no. I've had a few that were somewhat like that. But 9/10 times they have been NO DIFFERENT than WAKING reality. (Of course there are lot's of differences, but what I'm trying to NAIL into your head is how REAL it is.)
Example: You may find yourself floating in the air and not realize that you're out of body, you probably won't have astral vision -- you may end up thinking a ghost is levitating you in the air.
You may not realize your out of body when you do leave your body, until you break the OBE and find yourself in bed with the covers still over you.
2. RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN AWAY FROM YOUR BODY, should you ever get out and develop some level of control move, walk, run away from you body as soon as possible!!!
Even if you cannot see, feel your way out, or try to make an educated guess how to get out of the space your in based on your memory of the room your in.
If you linger near your body you will be snapped back like a rubber-band.
(Does not apply to planes other than the physical)
3. You may and probably will experience Auditory Hallucinations before leaving your body. These can be fun to play with, recalling a song you like, etc., and hearing everything in detail in your mind. But for the most part they're scary or annoying.
For example, you might hear the door open, your loved one calling your name, and other scary things (depending a lot on your level of fear). These happen before you project and sound 100% real. Beware.
4. If you ever do want to end an OBE out of fear, you can focus on your body and put all your will and strength into popping back in. This is a last resort... It's better if you focus on love. Fill yourself up with love for whatever it is that you're afraid of, love it will all your heart. Sounds crazy, but it works and takes some big ones to do.
5. If you tell most people what you're doing they'll either think you're crazy, having a dream, on drugs, or the devil got to you.
6. If you're trying to go from meditation to trance to OBE; right before you pop out you will get vibrations that will last anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds. If you haven't popped out after the vibrations stop then you're not getting out that day.
Oh and your mind may trick you into thinking you have to itch something as a test to see whether you're awake or not -- ignore it long enough and it will usually go away.
7. You're heart may feel like it's beating extremely fast -- if you're in good health this is probably your heart chakra activating.
8. To develop astral sight: Look around your room in real life, take a picture of it with your mind, close your eyes hold the image in your head for as long as you can. Try to get every little detail and object that you can for as long as you can, repeat.
Imagine a red ball in your mind, with a shiny smooth surface, rotate the ball around and see the reflection in the ball change. Try this with various objects.
Other things to help your senses are when listening to the radio try to separate each instrument mentally and focus on each note.
9. If you are going the direct route from trance to OBE work on being able to clear your mind of all random thoughts for as long as possible, from second, to a few seconds, and so forth.
10. The main factor is allowing your mind to totally focus on one thought or scenario (or nothing at all) while your subconscious automatically starts the OBE process for you.
The easiest way to OBE is either right before bed, or just after waking up.... If you do the meditation to trance to OBE route it may take some time to master.
Good luck... sorry for the long winded post, remember I know nothing...

That's definitely true!
I would also recommend reading Astral Dynamics or Mastering Astral Projection by Robert Bruce, it will give you a step-by-step guide and tips to get started. And also read all of the old posts in this forum.

Thank you Steel Hawk for taking the time to give me these details, I will definitely take these tips into practice, I feel it's like learning how to crawl and walk and so on. It's really exciting to know we have this much power within ourselves just like a super hero but I assume the more you apply these tips more as a nurturing your spirit rather than just curiosity the more can be learnt, I hope I make sense.
Again thank you very much for all these tips

Thank you kurtykurt42 for the recommendation, I will get the reading material you suggested, I feel I'm on a journey now to energize my spirit and beyond. It's also very true about how others might percieve when they se you reading or talking about these subjects. My wife for example is a devout christian and she saw me reading "journeys out of the body" and she told me to stop reading it because it will expose me to bad things. I just had to say I'm open minded and read about everything so now I have to read and explore without her knowing otherwise I'm sure there will be arguments so we'll see how that goes.
William Buhlman's books are helpful also. Smt else you might want to try --- prepare the environment like its a ritual before u settle down. Like you reinforcing again & again your intent to project
I liked Buhlman´s books more then Monroe´s. Monroe seems to be sometimes a little confused and
its a bit exertive to read for me. Buhlman seems a lot more clearer to me.
Im an absolutly obe n00b, though im trying since a year or so. But i know why....theres one technique
that "does" work everytime i try it - the rope technique. Its just my lack of concentration that stops
from getting out. But i´d recommend trying this technique (google).
