They weren't this strict a year ago.
Guess they got a bit afraid when I sent some emails
trying to reach Mark Pritchard [:D]

Master Beelzebub is a nice joke heh. I long suspected a
year ago while stumbling there that they only tried to
make money for some selfish purposes.

We are lucky to have our own common sense with us,
unfortunately everyone hasn't...
If we compare us to infinitely small,
that will make us infinitely big,
but if we compare
ourselves to infinitely
big, it will make us infinitely small.
What is our size again?

wow!
and I thought that i was the only one that sensed something "wrong"!!!
milarepa, you are so right! thanks for the post! I was very surprised when in one of the posts I mentioned Robert Monroe and the moderators didn't know (or didn't want to know) who it was.Hmm...quite odd for an astral travel site eh? I also received one of their "free online lessons" and I must say, that it was one of the scarriest things i've ever heard! there was some mp3 attached, on which there were "conjourgcions" (??spelling - sorry)..and theer was this evil voice saying some abracadabra theme..agh!!!i deleted it imedieately.
Also it's very akward, that in many cases their only answer to a question is: join our free course.hmm..
btw, what's that thing with Beelzebub being one of the names of Satan??( sorry if I misunderstood something)
Great post!

I agree.  I was there for a little and it did seem a lot like a cult.  Some of their exercises were helpful but it really bothered me how many of them discouraged looking into any other sources and there was too much censorship.  Since thought and beliefs can shape the astral it's not a good place to go with dogmatic beliefs like they teach.

Nay

This was talked about at great length a year ago, Adrian pulled the thread off the forums because they started crying lawsuit..*rolls eyes*

I was blocked from going back as well because of my line of questioning.  I find it wonderful that ya'll trusted your instincts and knew when something wasn't "right".  Goes to show how in touch you are with your higherself..[:D]

I'm with you on this one Hannah, I've never felt very comfortable doing that conjuring stuff either. Something about it just turns me off though the rest of their techniques seem OK.

As for their excessive use of thought policing...oh well, their loss, OUR gain; guess we'll continue to pick up refuges from the shores of their BB.

I agree with all that was said above.
My intuition told me that the teachings of Samael Aun Weor were contradictory and were not truth, especially because of the amount of metaphor and symbology (but no meaning behind it all), not to mention the continual tone of "this is the right way to do things and there is no other".

no_leaf_clover

Why, if Mysticweb can't sue us or do anything about it, are the posts regarding their courses so moderated? Do we really care that much about whether or not they approve of us discussing their courses in a fair and open environment?
What is the sound of no leaves cloving?

the whole lawsuite thing is so stupid and would fall on its butt, ever heard freedom of speach?

There's still slander, etc., but, like James pointed out, there is a clause here that states the opinions expressed by members are not necessarily representative of those held by the people that maintain this forum. I think it would be hard to press anything even if that clause wasn't there just because of how completely ridiculous the case would be.

With regards to slander, here's what I pulled up from Dictionary.com:

Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation.
A false and malicious statement or report about someone.

I wonder if making comments about something or someone in WRITTEN form constitues slander? Johnny Cochran, where are you???

Namaste all and thanks for the replies[:)],
I honestly don't think I have said anything too slanderous, every thing I have said is observably true. I actually do think that THEY should be investigated by the authorities in regards their 'organisation' and what they are supposed to be offering.  Or pehaps we could drop a line to some Fundamentalist Christian forum about what they are teaching and see what happens![:D] Actually that may not be a good idea as they may join forces[:O]
What someone said above is very true, the astral is influenced by our thoughts, emotions, and mental conditioning so if you are very invested in the teachings of mysticweb and you then learn to astral project as a result of their courses and see a 'projection' of what they have said you would see then the odds are you will think that what they are teaching is the 'truth'.
Alternatively if you keep an open mind an know that you cannot be harmed in the astral and that everything is illusionary in nature. You can subdue your fear you will not attract the fear based entities in the first place, whose main purpose seems to be to scare the wits out of you, make you lose your concentration and end your practice.

LordoftheBunnies

I too stumbled across Mysticweb when I first started researching astral projection.  It seemed interesting at first, and their exercises on astral projection were quite helpful, but more and more started bothering me the further I studied their teachings.  This Samael Aun Woer character claimed to be the avatar of the age of Aquarius, that he reformed the demon Belzebuub (who, according to him, looks like a big gorilla [B)]), that having a physical orgasm even once keeps you from enlightenment and causes your kundalini to descend, becoming the tail of Satan, and a whole bunch of other nonsense I wont mention here, all of it without any real objective evidence to back it up.  Not only that, but most of his methods are lifted from other traditions that did not hold his dogmatic beliefs.  It seems to me that his beliefs heavily influenced what he saw in the astral plane.

I've also noticed that the moderators on the forum respond to just about every question with "Wait until the courses, you'll understand then."

milarepa

Namaste,
In my oppinion mysticweb has all the trademarks of a delusional cult!  They attract new members through their free astral projection course, people who perhaps stumble across their organisation like I did by searching 'astral projection' on google and then, slowly but surely they attempt to indoctrinate you with their conditioning teachings as the course/course they offer go on.
For instance, they use many attempts to create a fear and a dependancy towards their organisation(through fear of an inescapable hell, and the existence of satan) while trying to discourage your dependancy on other forms of study(by calling their wisdom false) and even to solely concentrate on their material alone, a very suspicius approach.
In books given on their courses they have stated that to leave 'their' path and stop 'their' practices is to walk on the dark path of evil, and to betray a 'master' (such as they claim Samael and Mark Pritchard to be) is to be eternally damned and never forgiven.
They also delete any posts that may poke holes in their teachings or that attempt to open peoples eyes, denying your experience. They also actively discourage you to study authors whom I know to un-mask the kind of lies and conditioning that they perpetuate, saying that these authors are not 'masters' and do not know the 'truth' as only they seem to!
What really clinched it for me was that they stated irrefutably that all true masters had walked the path that they taught and when I suggested that the Buddha did not and many enlightened Buddhists and Masters from other spiritual traditions did not and would perhaps find their approach insulting or even laughable, and I enquired as to where their information or authority on all things spiritual came from?
They promptly deleted my post and sent me a very aggressive email saying that I had 'breached their terms and aggreements' and that if I did so again I would be banned from their forums and their courses. (I decided to keep quiet and see what else they would try and throw at me before I never returned)
Some of the moderators have seemed very pleasant people(the newer ones though[:)]), and I am saddened that alot of the 'pupils' on the courses seemed only too happy to devote their full attention to 'Master Beelzebub' and the incredibly contradictory teachings of Samael Aun Weor.
They have carefully selected the books of Samael's that they give on the online courses as the mistakes and errors in what he tried to teach in various other of his books are only too apparrent.
Be aware of their conditioning and fear based approach to spirituality and the fantastic promises they offer you as a result of your devotion to them, I could go on and on about my suspicions dislikes about them and what they are up to but all I will say is this:
Be aware, and be careful!
