Dragon #103

Here is something I am trying to figure out. I came to either here, or www.LD4ALL.com and read up on some techniques that I wanted to prepare for before going to sleep, but I forgot to because I was so tired. When I fell asleep, I began to dream and I was suddenly reminded of the things I wanted to do.

Out of urgency, I tried to wake myself up. Instead of waking up, I found myself unable to move. Apparantly I put myself into a trance through urgency to awaken instead of meditation.

Here is what is puzzling me. I cannot figure out if the things I experienced while in the supposed trance were really there, or just my imagination.
If my body was paralized my head would be rested against the pillow. Yet  I saw a scrambled and undetailed version of my room from a viewpoint I could only see from if I was to lift up my head in the position I was resting in.
Certain details (like pose, positioning of the blanket, etc.) of what I saw in the trance did not match that of what I saw when I awakened from it.

Well, anyways, here is the cool part of it:
The moment I went into this trance, I immediately was reminded to try and escape from my body. I pushed back with my arms, and I could feel myself slowly rising at about an inch a second. While I was doing this, I heard a male voice speak in a gasping voice a non-english word I do not remember. I've written it down somewhere and I should find it soon. The room was filled with stars, flashes and blobs. I was almost out, but I became to scared and, sadly, decided that maybe next time would be better. :-( -Slams his forehead on his desk-

When I was returning to my body, I could feel myself in two positions at once, as if my back was in the air and against the bed at the same time. My "soul" slid down this squishy dome-like object, simmilar to a magnetic barrier of some sort beneath my body, until my soul aligned with my physical body.

Is this all some kind of dream, or is it a partial OBE?
Drifting out to the sea of afterlives, unsure of where the waves will take me.

sounds like an obe to me. You have stumbled upon the technique that I have been most successful with. It relies often on the  chance that you wake up in trance, or wake yourself up. After that, The exit sounds pretty much the same as mine goes. I have discovered that I can speed up the exit by "opening my eyes" by which I mean performing the same action as opening your physical eyes, but while you are projecting.

Your description is typical of OBE experiences. The distortion of the room and surroundings can occur when attempting this and the degree of distortion will vary depending upon the lucidity of one's awareness at the time. Meaning if you are not fully aware of what is going on (and have control of your thoughts) you experience more dream overlays while OBE. But if you can keep your mind clear and open, you find much less distortion in the experience.
Reality is what you perceive it to be.
