Hey everybody,
I've been trolling here for a little while and decided I would join up. I've had maybe 2 or 3 lucid dreams throughout my life none of which have been achieved on purpose. In all cases I became lucid during the dream, then lose lucidity, and regain it.
I am very interested in having an OBE, and would like to know what you would recommend to someone who is first starting their attempts.
Any response is appreciated!
One other thing I thought I would mention is that I have had the vibrations before. I remember having them once sometime last year. They scared me really bad for some reason and I woke up and wouldn't go back to bed. Now that I have found out what those are, I'm very frustrated that I woke up!
Definetly research about OBEs. When I started out 3 months ago I went on my local library's website and it has a database of all their books and I placed like 5 books about OBEs on hold and they deliver the books to my near-by library. I picked em up and did nothing but read about OBEs. I still have not had an OBE yet but I did come close to an OBE when I was lucid dreaming. I tried to roll out my body and I felt like my astral body was being dettached from my physical body and I heard a rumbling sound (like an avalanche) and I was about to pop out of my body but then I stopped because I did not want to project during the dark. I wanted my first OBE to be during daylight but now I am mad that I didn't OBE because it was my only chance! But yeah, definetly research by getting books at ur local library, reading the astral pulse forums, and KEEP A DREAM JOURNAL. If you dedicate yourself on having an OBE you will accomplish it in maybe a month or more. Its been 3 months and I haven't been able to have one because of my schoolwork. Since I started researching about OBEs i've remembered so many dreams!
Good Luck

Hi,
A very effective technique for many people is to do some visualisation as you drift off to sleep. Imagine yourself walking around your bedroom and try to make it as real as possible. Pick up a few objects and examine them. Try to feel them in your hands. Run your hands over the walls or crouch down and feel the texture of the carpet. Use all your senses to feel your surroundings, and keep telling yourself that you are out of your body. You don't need to concentrate too hard on relaxing because this process in itself will relax you. Trying too hard to relax can have the opposite effect and may keep you awake, so just concentrate on experiencing your room, or even the whole house. Keep it up right up to the point of falling asleep. It make take a few attempts for this to work, but don't give up. If you keep it up it really does work. You may start to feel intense vibrations. If you do, just go with it and when they subside, pinch your nose shut and try to breathe. If you can breathe you're OBEing, and you can just roll out of your body.
This technique is much more effective if you do it after four or five hours sleep (in fact it's a good idea to do this whatever technique you are using), so you should set an alarm to wake you in the night.
Just remember that it's very important to carry the visualisations right up to the point of falling asleep.
Cheers.
