Title: New method?
Post by: Vanessa on April 23, 2016, 04:15:07
So I just wanna share something I have learned to be effective when it comes to having OBEs. If you are able to make yourself scared of getting sleep paralysis upon sleep or scared of having an OBE, you may find yourself scared of falling asleep and keep trying to get your mind awake so that doesn't happen. What has happened to me when doing this is that I somehow can use that fear to keep my mind awake while being very tired so that I am still aware in the state where one might get sleep paralysis. Once you reach the sleep paralysis state it is just to let go of that fear and use whatever method you prefer to get out of your physical body. It is not a method I really use myself, but I have noticed how easy it is to use fear to keep your mind awake when your body is very tired.Im not sure if this method has been found or presented here or anywhere, but here it is. I Think many newbies may find this useful if they want to have an instant opportunity for OBE and newbies probably have a tendency to be scared easily. Be aware though that if you cannot control the fear you will probably have a bad experience. Please feel free to add, criticize or give your thoughts on this. Maybe you have used this method or  something similar, feel free to share.

Fear is a very powerful emotion. It has the ability to increase intent way beyond normal. This can be used to do more than escape the physical. I used nightmares as a tool of escape and they were scarey at times. It was a successful method too if you got everything in order. If not you woke yourself and the usual hiding under the blankets showed up. Lol.

"Fear...has the ability to increase intent way beyond normal."  What a subtle yet incredibly powerful statement.

I agree with the idea of using SP generated fear to create an opportunity for an exit; it is a very delicate thing however, not unlike handling nitro-glycerine...it can go BOOM on you at any moment.

Szaxx, again your comment elicited a partial memory of my own regarding an alternate use of nightmares to escape/avoid? something...I can't yet get the full recall of it, but it was a childhood memory of some kind of manipulation I was able to perform with nightmares; sometimes it worked, sometimes not. I instantly recognized it upon reading your post.

Can you provide a few more clues to this idea?

This is what I started a while ago. It didn't really take off as fear seems to be a big problem for so many.
Nitroglycerin with intent, nicely worded and formed is explosive. Fail to get it right and reach for those covers lol.

Nightmares can turn into very effective, life-changing experiences.

In a nightmare, intent can be utilized to instinctively or semi-consciously be called-upon to introduce a selection of alternatives: The police can be called, a hero can be introduced, a difficult character can simply be removed, an outright modification can be demanded to the plot-line, or an outright exit to the dream can be executed if all else has failed. These things are all possible given the level of immediate intent.

The execution of any of these actions likely demonstrate an advance in NP awareness and should be noted.

Szaxx reminds me of my old memories...Those that speak of other, more subtle modifications that can be made, especially within those nasty emergency moments deep inside our most difficult nightmares.

There is another type of dream modification that I am reminded of, I can't quite remember it yet, but this thread has put me onto the trail...

Nightmares are actually the only thing that really makes most people conscious "while" they are Dreaming.

Almost everyone can recall a "vivid" nightmare they once had in their life. But only a few can tell you what they Dreamed about "last" night.

That is very true and the reason I 'utilised' it's services long ago. The same scenario seems to exist in SP too. You can't move and all you have is your imagination which runs wild. To defeat this you need to gain control and from many posts, wiggle one of your toes until the movement expands bringing you back.
SP isn't a personal problem. Nightmares can be if I choose them to be. I have developed that much control and I'm sure many others could.
