New requirement for projection

I started this thread to ask if I have to do energy work in order to project. I'm reading the tenth anniversary edition of Astral Dynamics and I'm getting real impatient with doing the energy work.

Did you do energy work in order to project for the first time ?

I also have "The Secret of the Soul" by William Bulhman (both I checked out from the library) and want to know if that's easier than Dynamics.

I too read "Astral Dynamics" and thought it was great but didn't do any of the energy work.

What worked for me the first time I tried it is his "Rope Climbing" technique. I had had OOBEs with the standard 'rolling out' movement before but was shocked how fast and easy the Rope Technique worked when I was in the right state (which is late morning after I've already have 7 hours sleep). It works 90% of the time for me within just 5-10 seconds so I have them nearly every morning now which is great fun.

Another variation on this is keeping your hands under your sheet and just gently putting resistance against the sheet and when you no longer feel resistance you know your astral hands have broken free and then I'm ready to sit up.

I would also recommend the Robert Monroe books and all the great resources on this forum.

Could you explain it to me in more detail (about the sheet part) ?

Can you tell me what you did that led to your first projection ?

I've read the Monroe books and they didn't help me much.

I don't have the book forever (I checked it out from the library. Plus I live with my mom who's into the Christian religion and can't buy it openly until I'm on my own) so I'm practically forced to hurry up the process. I have the older version on my computer but I don't like to read books on the computer.

Yes, to clarify, I spontaneously started having OOBEs about 20 years ago when I was lying on my back in the early mornings and felt my feet and legs raising up in the air. It took me months to figure out how to completely roll out by just twisting my shoulders to the side. I didn't know there were books on the subject or it would have saved me so much time!

My feet and hands tend to be the first to lift off so by just putting your hands on your torso while lying on your back, when you feel like you're about to go back to sleep in the early morning, just focus your eyes forward in relaxed concentration, then lift your hands just a little bit so you feel resistance against the sheet. When you no longer feel the sheet with your hands you know your astral hands have separated from the physical and you can then safely sit up and fly out (similar action as doing a sit-up in the gym using your hands to propel you forward). I haven't heard anyone mentioning this method before but it works almost as well as the rope technique.

Thanks Jilt, I'll try that. So far my post-vibe movement (i.e. sitting up) actually engages muscles! The moving extremities thing makes a lot of sense. I've probably done it without noticing. Last night I got a rather spontaneous buzz but I was on my side and rather stuck in that position. I opened my eyes, then wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do.
I'll post more questions tomorrow, but it was a good experience anyway.  I think I drifted off into a "directed" dream where I continued to try to separate. At one point I slowly raised up, you might call it floating I suppose. I'm somewhat embarrassed to say what happened later as I'm a married woman. I am happy that I maintained some kind of focus, even if it was "only a dream." (just my impression at this point)
Bon soir, everyone.

Jilt

Sleeping on my back works much better for me so you might try that.

No need to be embarrassed as most OOBErs will cop to the fact that phasing causes strong sexual urges that are much more prevalent than in our waking state, especially at first. Just the other night I popped out of body and a very lovely naked man walked over my sleeping husband and I was tempted to have some fun. Monroe thought is was a negative and distracting urge to be avoided but I think it's just part of raising your vibration and surpressed urges become less so.

Short answer : No.

There are methods that need no energy work at all. Use Frank's phasing tech, it may work. Good for those who are in some kind of hurry :) (I'm not kidding here).

But if those techniques fail, you must fall back a bit and be patient, do the difficult and slow ones. You should wait for a few months before giving up on a technique.

If the energy raising and all those mental exercises also fail, you must fall back a bit more and start with Yoga (the physical poses and breathing etc). That is , if you want to AP desperately.

If you find sitting still and remaining silent impossible or the breathing techs are making no sense, you feel nothing at all, then you must fall back to the very basic level and set your life straight first. It simply means that your life either has some major unsolved issues or you have karmic problems.

Sometimes the first AP comes very easily. I have a feeling that it is 'given' to us as a gift. You just need a very strong desire and intention to AP. After that the magic fades and you are on your own mostly.

Hi Luffy, I have recently finished R. Bruce's  'Mastering astral travel in 90 days' I got two OOB exits on the 107th & 108th day, faithfully going through all the exercises, learning all the techniques of raising and storing energy and stimulating the 7 chakras. I got the book out of the libary three times! lol - 20 years ago I began TM meditation and after 4 or 5 years? I began spontaneously exiting OOB. Take your pick just meditation or energy work plus meditation.
I still havent been able to execute the phase technique.
Good luck, djed  :-D
I have a dream, a song to sing...d~ d~ d~

You don't have to do any energy work. I've never done it and I manage to project just fine.

You should, however, learn to meditate.  :)
