I have had one accidental astral projection and that was it. I can get to the vibrational state and the fast heart beat, but it seems my mind is always racing. I can't concentrate. My mind just wants to go and always in the wrong places and I have to pull it back. I'm wondering if I could just stay awake without moving as long as I can, it should just kick me into the vibrational states and etc and then I can project because it seems I get impatient and just forget it.

I had the same problem Hiero, don't feel alone.  In fact, my mind still goes through those periods of not wanting to shut-up!

My advice is just keep at it.  Keeping your body still is a big part, but keeping your mind still is the other part that goes with it.  ;)

But see I can't even meditate because of this...I don't understand...Well I understand I just can't feel. You know what I mean? I force things ...I can't let them flow. I'm sick of battling with myself....

Tension feeds the internal dialogue and once you get lost in your mind it is difficult to make it stop. Have you tried using physical exercise to work through the tension in your body? As for the dialogue itself, the more you can focus on something like your body or your energy or anything else where there is nothing to think about, it should help to anchor you. The breathing is commonly used because it tends to slow down and become softer, so the more you focus on it the more you have to focus on it to stay with it. The heartbeat is less commonly used for this purpose, but I read that it can be done. If after a while you count time to your heartbeat, I read that you can actually change your heartbeat by changing your counting its beats. I never managed to do that, though, because I lose perception of my heartbeat before I get to the point of being able to slow my counting and have my heartbeat slow with it.

That is the problem...you are battling with yourself.

I think you got yourself so worked up about it, nothing is going to go right.

You need to get your mind in a different frame, and to do this you need to think about anything else but projection..lol.  I know that sounds nuts, but I know it will work.

Not sure where you live, but the weather is starting to get nicer in my area.  Go to a park, mountains, woods, desert..etc.. I don't care, just go out and soak up some Mother Nature.

Notice everything..the leaves crunching under your feet, the birds in the trees, the buzzing of insects...just be there.  Don't think about why you're  doing it, just do it.  You need to learn to stop that constant chatter in your mind, this is the way to get there.

Don't force any thing.   So what if your mind wonders off, just gently pull it back, and for goodness sakes,  DO NOT get mad at yourself!

ok..raise your right hand and repeat after me....."I will not get mad at myself, and have a silent yelling fest, when stray thoughts come into my head, I will accept them and move on"

If you are anything like me, you have a constant dialogue going on in your head at any given time of the day, sometimes several at once..hehe.  but it can be managed.  There is no easy route, sorry.  I've been meditating for 18yrs, and still learning. :)

I hope you work it out and good luck!

Yes, Nay you explained the concept of trying to hard very well.
"There are three kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not."

An accidental projection?  Wow I never heard of this.  I'm still tryin' to learn more about OBEs.  How does that accidentally happen?  I'm so desparate to get one that an accidental projection would be cool.

Thank-you RTCovenant, I find it hard to express my thoughts, alot of the time :P

Leprechaun, I believe he was meaning "spontaneous" projection.   I'm sure it has happened to you, but brushed it off as a dream or something. :)

Take Care,

Spontaneous, that makes more sense.  After reading the post, I spent the whole rest of the school day thinking, wait a minute, how can a projection be accidental?  I thought a little to hard, thanks Nay.  Anyway can someone tell me more about this spontaneous stuff?  I'm afraid I might "drift away" when I fall asleep in class.
