An attempt to OBE failed ... but interesting night.

Well yesterday, I was hanging with a friend doing something what I like to call "Moses" (Hint: burning bush). It was around midnight and getting a little late, so we both decided to retire.

I laid in my bed on my left side using one small pillow for my right arm to rest while my left arm resided under the regular-sized pillow which my head rested on.

This night, I also decided to not use any assistance from BWGen as I usually did.

I decided then to try to OBE while in this state of mind. While I did this I assumed the "mind awake, body asleep" method. I repeated this. As I breathed in "mind awake," and as I breathed out "body asleep." I started to feel a sort of numbness throughout my body, except that I felt there was much pressure on my head that pushed my head into the pillow--this sensation bothered me a little but I just chose to continue and ignore it. I'm not sure how long all this was, but I'd estimate my mind was awake for possibly two hours.

During the session, I began to recall threads on this website about spiritual guides, so I asked for a spirit to help me. From then on, I kept asking my guide if she was really there. I thought it was a she because a name was presented to me by the name of Fiona ("Fee-oh-na"; not too sure on how to spell that name). I felt numerous tingles throughout the session. Every time I began to drift off in a dream I felt jolts to awake me back up to keep doing the mind awake, body asleep method. She was really there, and she was doing a really good job keeping me focused for a long time!

As some times, I was actually succeeding. My physical body felt really numb, and I felt a lot of sensation that I was going to AP. Each time this occurred I was just too excited. In result, I felt my heart rate jump. The closer I felt to AP, the more I felt my heart beat rise, and I started feeling nervous and scared. Each time, the scary feelings just stopped me from going any further. I asked my guide to help me lower my heart rate whenever it would start up. From then on I just kept trying but the drifting into dreams was taking over. My mind started to feel bored and tired. Eventually, I kept drifting off just too much and fell asleep; Fiona probably gave up on me. I was probably too "bush-burnt out" from earlier that night. Haha

Next time, I will try to be in a more healthy state of mind and see if I can get in contact with Fiona again. With that, any other suggestions?

Sorry about replying to an older post. I just did a search for info on spirit guides and this one popped up.

Phitau, I just wanted to comment on the heart racing issue. If this happens again in the future, you may not want to slow it down. It could just be your heart chakra, not your actual heart. The way you can tell, is because it feels a little too intense, like it is going to beat out of your chest. Anyways, this can be a sign that you might be close to exiting.

This sensation thwarted one of my attempts too.  :x

Wow, thanks TemperMode, for the input. I began thinking of that, and I feel you may be correct.
