Where are the vibrations?

Okay, so I remember experiencing astral travel when I was child, or more specifically, snapping back into my body after projection.  Only once do I recall what actually happened during a projection.  I was floating around my house and when I got to the top of the staircase I attempted to walk down.  I tripped and fell when suddenly I came back to my body -- quite painfully.  Strangely enough, I wasn't at all scared, nor has that stopped me from attempting to return.  The problem is I haven't done this in years, nor do I remember how I ever got into the Astral to begin with.

I happened across a site on astral travel about year ago when I realized that all those jolts that had woken me up as a child were actually my spirit returning to my body.  For a few months I've tried to project with few results until last week when I downloaded two binaural beat programs.  Every day now I can almost feel myself getting closer.

I'm lying in bed, totally relaxed, when suddenly this great feeling comes over me and I feel incredibly light.  I start to become dizzy and then I see lights.  Blue and a deep violet color.  My body goes numb, and I wait for the vibrations I've heard so much about, but they never come.  The two mp3s are about twenty minutes each and I'm getting to the end of them.  That means I'm spending about forty minutes like this. :-P  I've tried to roll out of my body, climb a rope, fall through the mattress, all to no avail.  Am I getting ahead of myself?  How long does it usually take you seasoned travelers to feel these vibrations?

Vibrations are not always felt.  They usually happen to people as the exit consciously, and if the exit is done while asleep (which is the case most times) they won't be perceived.
Vibrations are not something you do, they are what you feel as you switch perspective from the physical to the nonphysical.  Most people feel them at first when they are starting to project, and after a while they are felt very subtly or not at all.
On top of that, vibrations can be felt in other frequencies, such as 'rocking movements' that happen when you're almost completely out and  still transitioning, or while doing energy work, and are not exit sensations, just the mind 'tuning up'/perceiving energy in your body.

So, don't expect vibes every time you try to OBE, use them as markers for trying to exit and then try to exit, or find another way to tell you're in deep trance before you try an exit- like hearing noises/voices and/or hypnagogics.

ps.  Rope is not a trance technique, it's an exit technique.  You should be in deep trance before you even try it, and it would be even better to use energy-body-loosening before even trying to exit.

Thank you so much; this is very helpful.  Last night I (nearly) had great success using the Lucidology 101 method.  I was lying still when I felt myself become paralyzed and a few seconds later I felt the vibrations!  It was very low and disappeared after a few seconds, and afterwards my body felt as if it were rolling or bending to the right.  I tried to "feel" myself rolling out of my body, but I was afraid of physically moving.  Then after the second beep from the headphones, I started to hear far-off gunshots.  At first, only one every (what seemed like) a few minutes, then about four in a row.  The third beep scared the bejesus out of me and I opened my eyes and took the headphones off.  I wasn't frightened by the sensations/noises, but from those beeps.  I never know when they're coming...
