OBE or just a dream?

Hello everyone,

i begun to read about OBEs and Astral projection 2-3 months ago. Some weird symptoms i experienced and didn't know what they were, made me look a bit more into this.
Sometimes i woke up totally paralyzed in bed, other times i remembered waking up in the middle of the night having a buzzing sensation into my head like loud ringing, and other times i felt very light and a levitating kind of sensation while having my eyes closed.

At the beginning it was happening without me knowing much or trying to do anything to induce it. Even after a lot of reading about the OBE subject, I would "wake" up having the buzzing into my head and take it from there but as soon as i felt like i was leaving my body, i lost concentration and there i was again in my body with a numb feeling all over.

Anyway i had two experiences that i'm not certain if they were actual OBEs or a dream that i could have had due to my recent pursuit of the subject and mostly because i recall my vision and memory to be a bit fuzzy.
In both these experiences i never left my room and both took place during my 2 hours 6pm sleep after work and none of them lasted long.

What makes me doubt that it was actually an OBE is...

1. I recall that my vision was more less like it would be in the physical. The room was dark, only the green digits from the alarm clock were luminating it, just enough for someone to see a bit, so i couldn't "see" clearly.
I've read that in other people's experiences, the room being dark didn't matter and they could see just fine while out of body. This wasn't the case for me.
I actually saw my body laying on the bed but like looking at it in mid dark.

2. Once, i "got up" and when i actually looked on the bed i saw me and another person laying next to me in bed that i didn't recognise, appearing to be sleeping.
A friend of mine's friend (girl) that had very intense experiences of this sort, was convinced to talk to me about it after telling her i had the symptoms of OBE (she totally freaked out when all these started to happen to her even during the day, and she didn't want to talk to anyone about it...).
I remember her saying that once she got out of body but when she looked at her bed, instead of seeing herself there, she actually saw a blond boy laying there sleeping.... this is similar to my case. Could something like this happen in an OBE or does this mean it was just a dream?

3. Another time i "rolled" out and i remember that it was like i was spinning and rolling everywhere in the room.

All these times, my memory is a bit fuzzy, from other people's experiences i've read that they have very clear memories and vision, no matter the luminance in the room.

Were these experiences dreams or OBEs?

They sound very much like you astral projected! once you get the hang of 'seeing' in the astral, its very clear, even in the dark. But when your not expecting to project, or haven't done it very often, your vision can be zero - to very dull, the best thing to do in this case is to will yourself to project further away from your body.

I'm not too sure about the whole 'other person in your bed' thing... maybe its an entity trying to scare you back into your body? I have often projected, only to find i could not move off my bed, and that there was a creepy man with a growling cat right next to me on my bed.

I must admit, once you've been in the astral, you know that you have... its all very real. But then again, as i said, when your not expecting to project, it might feel a bit unreal....

maybe you were just in and out of lucid dream and astral awareness?

Both experiences happened after i did much reading about etheric and astral projection (i was waking up in the middle of the night having the symptoms and didn;t know what they were) so i can recall clearly being concious in bed paralyzed and having my head buzzing loudly. I recall getting up (out of body) both times, its just that after "getting up", my memory is blurry and i thought that maybe it was just a dream because of all that reading i did lately.

This other person i mentioned seemed like sleeping peacefully on his side and looked just like an ordinary young man. Didn't move or say anything, he was sleeping. Just like someone else being in the same bed sleeping. Didn't look creepy either.

Then i read something about being possible to project in a parallel reality where everything is the same but not quite... or maybe the dream theory is simpler?

I've been out of body 5-6 times the passed 2 months (3 of them completely separated) but i only stayed inside my room, didn't last long. All of them i just woke up (gained conciousness) having paralysis and buzzing head and took it from there (just got up or rolled out).
Once i put my (etheric legs) down from the bed and tried to get up but my head and chest felt like moving within a very viscous liquid (slowly and with difficulty) so i didn't make it out.
I also had some more cases where i didn't make it out, mostly because i lost concentration.

I haven't been able to induce the buzzing willingly, like lay down and do it. I'm experimenting with bineural beats specialy made for OBE, they're sure doing something but i reach a level of relaxation and i start having a sensation like spinning in a wirlpool but i can;t go any further than that.

They seem like OBEs to me.

Question for you: Did they seem like OBEs to you at the time? If there was no doubt in your mind you were out of body at the time, but you questioned it afterward, then you had an OBE.

It is not unusual to question your first few experiences...it is also not unusual to question your first few projections after a long absence.

Whoever told you that how much light in a room didn't matter was mistaken. Remember: You're projecting in real-time, so you're seeing things pretty much how they are in that period of time.

Regarding the other person in the bed: It is common for distortions to occur in real-time projections. Doors can appear on the opposite side of the room, old furniture may be back, etc. It usually results from memories persisting in the real-time zone or your mind throwing in distortions.

I had another one last night.....
i still can't deside 100% whether it was actually an OBE or if I was dreaming of having one.....

Last night i went in bed at 1:00am because of a stupid movie i was watching. I was feeling uneasy so i couldn't get to sleep, i was in a "wake up and begin to fall asleep again" state until 3:00 am. I also had in mind about trying to have an OBE because i could feel my body relaxed and numbed several times, because of this "wake up and begin to fall asleep again" state.

Once i kind of "got right out" of bed, not like levitating or anything, just like i would get up normaly out of bed, but out of the body.
I remember thinking to move away from the body ASAP and while doing so (but I wasn't floating, it was just like walking), i can remember thinking to "visit" my parents downstairs (i live on the 3rd floor) but i can recall thinking something like "and what if i do, they're sleeping now, lets go and see something more interresting".
So after taking a look at my bedroom in mid dark (didn't look at my body) i jumped out of the window (through the glass), and while i was falling i remember visualizing about flying because i read this on the forum somewhere.

I remember having an image of a block of flats and one of them having light inside (it was around 3am, at least in my country). After that, I remember myself being inside a small apartment watching a young boy brushing his teeth in the bathroom, i was in the hall just outside the bathroom and I could see a man that gave me the impression of being the boy's father, sitting on a bed in a room at the end of the hallway.
I remember him watching straight at me and i thought "can he see me?", but i was invisible to them the whole time.
Then i remember this man getting up and putting his son to bed in another room.

Just a glimpse about my body passed through my mind and there i was at my bed waking up.

The only thing that again makes me doubt that the experience was an OBE is that i can't seem to remember the whole thing, i seem to have forgoten some parts of it, like how i got to this never seen before apartment. I don't remember flying to it thought i have a picture of it from the outside in my mind.
I don't seem to recall many details, the boy's face for example, or what were they waring, and stuff like that.

I was under the impression from other people's sayings that it should be a VERY vivid and striking experience, but then again I'm not easily shocked. It didn't feel like it was something new to me although it was my first consious "out of my room" trip.

Is it possible when you're having an OBE to have forgotten some parts of it when you wake up? Thats what makes it look like a dream to me...
