Fyrenze,

Recently, I modified my astral program wherein I now use the Monroe Institute Wave-I cds. Actually, I am only using the second track of the first cd to just get the ball rolling, then I continue on my own.
I see the use of the cd as something that gets me quickly to the relaxed Focus 10 state. It seems to do it better each time now. However, as its' been said before, they are just something to get you going to begin with.

If you look at the posts by Frank in some of the links below, he explains his use of the cd and gives some valuable advice along the lines of your question:

Fyrenze,

Follow-up: There is a website link I posted in the Astral Consciousness section that you might want to look at. The link was something I just came across at Bruce Moen's website (afterlife-knowledge.com). There were people at his forum that liked the cd sold on the Awakened Minds site. It is very inexpensive compared to what else is out there, and testimonials rate it very highly.

Nick,

Thank you for your help.

I checked out that awakened minds site and I really like it, I think I'm going to purchase it shortly.

I've been listening to their sample (it's only like a minute and a half long) on repeat while I was sitting at the desk looking over some things for callbacks and such. One thing I noticed relatively quickly as I was listening were eye flutterings. King of like when you get a tic in your eye, but in both, and not quite as annoying, just...odd. I'd imagine it'd be like what your eyes would feel like during a R.E.M. cycle, if you were concious. I noticed it with my eyes open in the first minute or so of listening, and I noticed it again when I finally paused in my work for a bit to sit with my eyes closed and did some breath awareness.

Is this a common symptom, or perhaps not even related? I get tics from time to time, I think usually from stress, but like I said, I don't usually get them in both eyes, and this wasn't quite so annoying.

Oh, and just a general thing to everyone, my name is Mark. I've noticed at least 2 other people named Mark here, however, so that's the reason for my "M" below. Feel free to call me Mark, or Strand, if you like (that's my last name), or Fyrenze.

Mark,

Glad you like the site, I came across it by accident, but it does look good. I'm not sure what you mean by the eye flutterings, especially after only a minute. It's not something I've noticed with the Wave-I Monroe cd I listen to, but maybe other people have had a different experience. In any event, if you do get the cd, you should know soon enough if there is a correlation.

I see they work quite well for most people, and I have great relaxation and meditation problems. It's tempting for me to get one of these aids. However, I really don't want to become reliant on a tape. When I finally get to the point where I can get out of body, I don't want it to be dependent on a tape. Shouldn't these levels be attainable without these methods? For example, F-3 and F-10 aren't attained only through the tapes, are they? So much for natural OBEs, huh.
