Title: OBE's and dimensional experiences: are they the same as the quantum paradigm...?
Post by: earthrooster on April 16, 2011, 08:18:51
Hi all, new here and new to this whole thing......like the title of this post says, can anyone explain this. OBE's and dimensional experiences: are they the same as the quantum paradigm...?

Perhaps you should start by explaining what the "quantum paradigm" is for myself and others not versed in the subject.

Quantum entanglement...the multi dimensionality of the theory to the multi dimensionality of OBE's... The step away from the old materialist science era. Are scientists realising they are the same thing?

No the word dimension as used in AP has a different meaning than that used in science. It means a state of consciousness in one field and the number of variables in an equation in other.

Well expressed Psan.  The concept of a "dimension" in say, string theory is completely different from the meanining of the word "dimension" in a phrase such as "I visited a different dimension". They are quite different things.

The study of quantum mechanics and quantum effects (superposition, entanglement, uncertainty etc) has been around for about 100 years and so far has not provided a good explanation for ESP and other psychic effects.  That's not to say that there aren't some intriguing concepts. One striking effect is the "observer effect".  In QM, nothing is certain until it is actually observed (by an "observer"). This is very similar, if not identical, to saying that we create reality by observing it.

So in a way, scientists do agree that we create our own physical reality.

On the plus side QM is so weird that if it is true, only a very tiny leap in imagination is required to believe in ESP.
