Title: OBE's of blind people?
Post by: Nick on April 14, 2003, 18:22:58
manuel,

There is a great book that covers both nde and the obe in the blind:
"Mindsight: Near-Death and Out-of-Body Experiences in the Blind"
by Kenneth Ring, Sharon Cooper, Charles T. Tart (1999).

Very best,

I've always found it fascinating that the blind can supposedly see during nde's.

I used to know this guy who was legally blind. He said he had OBE's and that he could see...don't remember the details, but I think he said his vision was a little better than what it was whilst on the physical plane, but not much.

I think in astral dynamics he stated that it depended on if a person was born blind or if they once had sight.

I believe he said if they were born blind the people he talked to (I have no clue how many people that would be) could not see during an OBE.  The people he had talked to who went blind later on in life could see during an OBE.

Since such a small percentage of the overall population projects regularly I cant imagine how small the numbers of blind people would be.  I was thinking maybe its a perception thing.  Like how sometimes when I doubt I can fly in lucid dreams I can barely fly.  Maybe its because they dont know how to perceive sight.  I wouldnt think the actual physical limitations would be there.
