OBE vs NDE

I was wondering if a person who had a very intense Near Death Experience had more validity in that experience than a person who had multiple OBE experiences?

It seems that most NDE's that I have read definitely proclaim a meeting with God as the creator of all things while it seems that most folks in the OBE camp claim that God is just a belief construct?

I am not attempting here to argue the point for the existence of God or not, but rather determine why the different viewpoints between NDE's and OBE's?

Great question!

I have had many OBE's but I don't believe that GOD is a 'belief construct', I don't think that everyone that has had OBE's believes that either.   In fact, I've never thought otherwise.  I have many OBE's where I meet with my Spirit Guide(s) and I've had many very spiritual OBE's as well, so I guess I've never questioned the fact that it comes from GOD. I think it's not so much in relation to whether or not you have OBE's but that it begins with your belief system to begin with.  If that makes sense.

I can't speak for a NDE, since I've never had one, but I've done quite a bit of research on them and it would seem that each one of them has the same basic story to tell.  Which, I might add is fascinating to say the least.  That is an intense and incredible experience that goes far beyond an OBE.

Hope I've helped a little anyway,

So does this mean that people will find that which they are seeking?
Thanks.

Something like that, yes.  I would also say it begins with your belief system.  Whether or not you believe in the first place will alter your perception of the OBE experience.

Personally, I am not a believer in 'Organized Religion', however I believe in a higher spiritual power, be it GOD, Buddha, etc.. whatever name a person wants to call It.  There is something definitive for me beyond this human existence. I use the term 'God' I guess because of culture.

The thing I don't understand is that I read some accounts of confirmed "atheists" who died and then claimed to have met God complete with a life review.

How is this possible?  Are the sources of these experiences internal or external in nature?

Perhaps these confirmed 'Atheists' have a NDE for that purpose, in fact in many of the cases that I've read about NDE's there are quite a higher percentage of people that are either Non believers, Scientists, Skeptics and so on... so it makes me question... does their NDE happen TO THEM so that they will come back to tell the tale?  That people would be more apt to believe a proclaimed Atheist than someone who already believed in Him?

I have also read NDE's on people who not only didn't believe in God but either attempted suicide and / or were so down that they resorted to drugs and alcohol abuse.  Coming from different walks of life and yet all of them come back with a HUGE change, not only in their personalities, but their lifestyles.

One in particular that I read was about a University Professor, he was (self proclaimed) an arrogant person, who didn't believe in God or religion who thought HE was the one that offered his students what they needed to know.  HE had completed his Professorship and didn't need anything more out of life.  After his NDE he became a research junkie, he had his life review and found out he knew NOTHING at all.  When he came back he absorbed himself in the libraries and in books and actually quit his job at the university so that he could do research full time.  He ended up joining a church and became some sort of pastor, his whole 'being' changed.

Have you had a NDE?  Or do you research them?

I think the answer in part can be found in possible evidence for native DMT being released by the brain at time of death. This chemical is one of the most potent hallucinogens known to man (and is produced by the brain). Normally, the brain has mechanisms to stop DMT from being released, but at times of trauma or high stress, there is evidence to suggest that these mechanisms are overwhelmed and so the DMT is spread to all brain parts.
Read DMT experience reports, and the book 'DMT: The Spirit Molecule' by Rick Strassman which deals with clinical experiments into this area, to see the striking similarities between NDE reports and reports of people being given DMT.

To add a bit more:

I've a feeling that during normal OBE some DMT might be released, but due to it being a small amount, and the trance state (stimuli deprivation) amplifying the effects, the experience produced is more watered down then a full blown DMT release and consequent GOD meeting etc.

Yes, I have been researching NDE's for a few years now along with OBE's.  I have had a few OBE's, but that is all.

I believe that the professor that you are referring to is Howard Storm who was an art professor at the University of Kentucky.

He talked about the nature of the Universe as being divided into multiple dimensions all containing intelligent life, some physical some non physical.

Concerning the role of DMT in these experiences, it is interesting to note how its effect causes very common experiences among those who have NDE's such as the tunnel, the being of light, the life review etc.

Perhaps the commonality is due to the DNA structure of humans.  Still Robert Monroe raised the question are we not more than our bodies?

Well i actually had a NDE, and it was acaully quite scary but not from my point of view. Basically i had way to much to drink, like 10 - 12 shots of str8 liq. and i poped some triple c's, yes i understand wasnt smart at all and never will do anything like that again, basically on this car drive with my friends i blacked out, from wat i know happened, i remeber driving then blacking out, then i was in my bathroom floor and my parents were feeding me water, i had no clue wat had happened, but it was so fast, one second i was in the car the next it was like i saw myself fly outta the car and zoom str8 into my body  on the bathroom floor, i was very confused and outta it, everything was skippin sorta, like one second id be takin a shower then again id fly into 20 mins into the future and i just finished having a convo with my parents and i didnt even kno wat i said, a few days later some friends from my neighborhood told me that i was walked from my friends car when they came to drop me off to my front door and passed out, every1 tried slappin me wakin me up but i wouldnt, and my vital signs were close to non, faint heartbeat, my friends told me that as my parents ran upstairs for a sec that one of my friends pumped my chest and i started breathing better, after a while they got me upstairs to my bathroom where they poured water into my mouth, my dad said i didnt wake up till the 3rd bottle was in me, i started to open my eyes,

i just want to add that this was such a horrific experience for me, i never have done drugs since that day, i wish to value my life more everyday and not waste it, it really scared me after that i almost died, all the people i would of hurt from my loss eveything scared me, i really wonder though why i went from a car to my floor so fast! it was like fast foward button in my life... i dunno it was a horrible experience im glad to be alive and drugs are bad
