Title: OBE within a dream?
Post by: threemoons on April 21, 2010, 15:29:48
I tend to always remember my dreams and have lucid dreams from time to time.
In one recent dream I was flying (I do this regularly) but I was also saying to myself,
I know that if I'm flying I must be having an OBE.

For the past 9 months or so I've meditated every night and get into a deep trance
state but am still not sure whether I've ever exited or not. Just wondering whether this
recent dream experience was an indicator of an OBE?

Not necessarily, but you became lucid, and lucidity is step one.

It's an indicator that you have wandered into the astral- so that flying 'away' can get you into the collective environment, and you can have an astral projection.
I consider an OBE to be a perceptible separation from your body, so I wouldn't consider it an OBE, however I would consider it an AP.
I know, classification systems....

Thank you CF and yes, that's where I have the problem. What's the difference between out of body
and astral projection?

An Out of Body Experience is a type of projection, and it can be an astral projection- but the OBE gives you  the distinct feeling of being out of the body- (that is, the experience of leaving the body or of having left the body) while an astral projection can happen without the feeling of leaving the body.
So I didn't mean to say that an OBE is not an AP- because it can be- but most people categorize OBE as an etheric projection, although you can exit out into the astral.  So I just go by symptoms- if you experience leaving your body, you're having an OBE- that can be etheric or astral.

I know, it's 'sort of' complicated.
