OBE/AP for spiritual growth

What are possible uses of OBEs/APs for spiritual growth?
That is, what efforts can be put by an individual during OBEs/APs for spiritual development. e.g. seeking knowledge from higher beings (how?) / meditating while in astral (is it possible?) / astral lessons (how?).

For me it's about understanding how I'm a part of the entire universe, not just the physical world. It's not just philosophically understanding other dimensions of reality, but experiencing them. The experience forces a person to grow and open their "spiritual" eyes.

Sometimes just experiencing another aspect of reality is all that is needed to change perspective. Then the rest of the questions start to fall into place.
