Hi. I've got the Robert Peterson book, so I've just compared chapter headings and one of the chapters, and they are identical.

I also have "Astral Travel for Beginners" by Richard Webster and the Astral Projection Workbook by JH Brennan, and they are both pretty good overviews of the subject with various methods. Why not check your local library first, before you buy any.

I actually prefer reading about the author's own experiences, because they usually have instructions how they achieved it. It seems to take OBEs out of the realm of theory and make them more a practical reality. But each to their own.

zarklon,  you  can  read robert petersons book online,  so you dont have to fork out the bread,  unless of course your colelcting books  relating to  AP.

Although I have Richard Websters "Astral Travel For Beginners", I actually haven't read it. But I HAVE read other beginners books by Webster and I find them all very good.

Dunno if that helps.

hmm .. well , iwas gonna get robert peterson's book just so I could let my girlfriend read something while I have the other 2 books. I want to get her into it too. I of course will read Astral Dynamics first , but I dont know really how the others are.. I've heard robert peterson's book is good and all but yea .. why buy it when its right there one the web =P Now it comes to a choice once more .. which book do I give to my girlfriend ?

Hey Rael , which out of the 2 , astral travel for beginners or the workbook .. which are better for someone who knows little to nothing about astral projection that would keep them interested and wanting to have their own OBE ?  I'll probably end up giving one of them to my girlfriend..

Maybe I'll buy
Astral Dynamics
and
Astral Travel For Beginners
and
The Astral Travel Workbook-How to Achieve Out-Of-Body experiences

..Which would you reccomend I let my girlfriend read while I'm occupied by Astral Dynamics?   The only reason I was gonna get robert peterson's book was to let my girlfriend read something I know is really good. But I could always print it instead for her or get it from one of my relatives hehe.. Maybe I'll get my aunt , cousin , and uncle to put up for it =P

jason

how about Robert Monroe? especially his first book "journeys out of the body".His techniques are what gave me my 1st OBE, and the book is a classic in the field of astral projection.

hi. Incidentally, I have read all the books you have listed...in my obsessive trek to acheive OBE over the past year. And I feel obligated to give my 2 cents. I must say that they are all interesting reading, and sort of fun to read and kindof vicariuously satisfying. But unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it...) what happened to me was that you get all these guys different ways of approaching and experiencing, and writing about OBE's...and a bit of confusion and intimidation sets in. You read and read and your mind is filled with all these different techniques, methods, and esoteric sort of experiences...and well...my point is that I after reading all these books, I think there are only 2 worth reading (at least intitally) to aid the process: 1. Robert Bruce's book Astral Dynamics (this is really the only one you'll need!). 2. William Buhlman's book-- I forget the title right now-

the one thing i think a lot of authors, except Robert Bruce, overlook is that they themselves seem to have been blessed with intense natural ability and that telling us through their book that just saying "Now I am out of body" as you fall asleep will do the trick. I do not think this works for everyone..the same way that if I say breathe in and then expel air out of your lungs through your vocal chords while audibly visualizing a song will make you sing in key. Mr. Bruce's book is like Astral Projection 101 and on up through graduate level study...

anyhow...the other books are fun to read and I am just as guilty as most of my bi-weekly trip to Borders to pick up a new metaphysics type book. The thing I realized, however, is that you gotta jump off the cliff sooner or later and get your own thing going...

lotsa love
denny

The 2 books I think i'll end up getting are  below
In the book by robert peterson.. is the online edition the same thing as in the book ? Or is the online edition missing a few chapters or is it just a breif overview of all the chapters ?         And does the part about energy raising in "Astral Dynamics"go along with the NEW energy raising that Robert Bruce explains in the document on this site or did he change it up totally? I think I read something about that.. I could have been mistaken.

----------------------Two Books I'll definately get-----------------------------------
1)Astral Dynamics
2)Out of Body Experiences: How to Have Them and What to Expect

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and the next 2 are split decision cause I may only get one of them. I'm not sure which one I should get...what do you guys think?

---------I'm not sure if I should the first or second one. Or any at all------------

1)Astral Travel For Beginners
2)The Astral Travel Workbook-How to Achieve Out-Of-Body experiences

If you missed my earlier post about me getting books , I'm looking for ones that explain how to have an out of body experience more than anything.. not necessarily ones that tell about the author's experience.  I'm looking to be enlightened by having my own OBEs, not entertained by someone elses OBEs  hehe :)  If anyone knows of a relatively cheap book (under 30$) that is good besides the ones I mentioned above. Please feel free to post your suggestion. Thanks again to all!
