OoB Skills (Or how I learned to fly)

Like most people, my first OBE was quite limited.  I didn't know how to do very much (I still don't, but I know a little bit more) and all I ended up doing was walking around my bedroom.

There are skills which one necessarily develops with OBE.  Some of them are easier to develop than others.

For example:

Subconscious control - Reality fluctuations in the RTZ are a pain sometimes, and controlling their presence is the skill
Flying - Since we don't usually fly in physical existence, this skill must be developed.

There are many others, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere devoted to the teaching of these skills.  Personally, I have trouble flying.  I can jump maybe 30 feet into the air, but I always seem to come back down.  I just can't seem to shake the gravity habit.

So I want this thread to exist as a place where people can ask questions and post tutorials for OoB skills.

Starting off, does anyone have any tips for flying?

Flying.... well last time I tried I also had the problem that i came back down. So I said to myself: "This is my dream, I can fly" (I was just lucid at the stage). Then I jumped up again and I got much higher.

I remember other times when I was younger that I started drifting upwards and couldn't get back down.... now that was scary for me at the time. Its like up and up and up but no way back down  :x

Great Thread Skeletor- I'm looking to improve my OOB skills as well, as they are not that fantastic atm.

My flying skills aren't the most controlled but I can more often than not go for a fair distance.

I've found that flying can take a lot of focus to actually get of the ground. I usually go for the run up and jump with arms and legs out straight and imagine urself taking off. Try doing a sharp turn and tilting to your side while in the air and imagine the 'wind' picking you up. Practice makes perfect, just keep going at it

I think the reason there hasn't been any threads about this is because these "skills" are quite intuitional, or at least that's how I experience it.

Like, how do you explain to someone (that doesn't know) how to lift his arm? Or how do you explain the taste of milk? Etc. etc.

It's interesting.  I've been able to fly for years, I just enter the correct mindset and float off, no probs.

Reecently I started experimenting with making objects fly into my outstretched hand.  At first I could only make them topple off the shelf.  Then I could make them fly towards me but they would miss my hand.  Eventually I was able to stretch my hand out, spread the fingers out, concentrate and pull an object smoothly in full control so that it landed in my palm.  I got the knack of it.  There is a definite "feel" to it and once I learned it i could repeat it over and over.

I think learning to fly, hover, move objects etc is just like learning to walk as a baby.  You don't know how you do it, it's just something you "do" with your mind.

Another skill I play with is making things dissolve away and appear.  Good fun...

When you project how far do you actually travel from your body? Sometimes not being able to fly can be an issue with the "silver cord". I've known some indivduals to have an issue with how far they can travel from their body closer to the ground. The problem was that the silver cord wouldn't allow them to travel further. I'll look into this for you.

Some people appear to be more natural in flying than others. I struggled at first. I had trouble convincing my subconscious mind that it was possible. Keep trying as the others said, it's often just one of those things you need to work on.

Hope this helps.

Heres how I learned to fly one day..

At first I was only able to do really high and slow motion backflips which was awesome by the way.. I got the idea that I wanted to fly and so when I left my body once more I was met by a person in the astral that looked much like a school janitor/Bum  .. he never moved his lips when he spoke to me and come to think of it , I never actually heard him .. it was all non verbal but he was telling me to look up at the ceiling of the school gym I was in and sure enough when I looked up at the rafters there was a small orb of light sparkling like a lit firework.. he instructed me to focus on that light and as I did I started to slowly rise and rise.  After learning about that , i tested it in different OBEs and it actually was a good way to lift off the ground without worrying about gravity.. I used it to speed through the halls of my school by focusing on something quite a good distance away and as I would speed like crazy to that object or point of focus I would pick a new point ahead of me and speed to it..  I later realized that it is a good way to leave your body almost effortlessly once you reach a state of paralysis and are able to see through your eyelids.. I would pick a ceiling tile or a hanging picture on the wall and the more I focused on it and tried to see the details clearer , the more I would feel drawn towards the object and whether it was staight ahead of me or higher above me it would always let me defy gravity..  Maybe you should try something like that..

When I say focus on it .. its kind of like this.. imagine the letter chart you read at the eye doctors and you know the smaller itty bitty letters that you can hardly see.. well imagine that whatever your focusing on has some small details ( especially something with texture ) and you try to get a closer look at the object without moving towards it .. and it all sort of happends on its own..

When I was in paralysis and able to see through my eyelids I can remember looking in the corner of my ceiling and focusing on it a certain way and each time I would put energy into focusing on it I would feel a purring vibration sensation go through my neck and back.. it was like a cat purring inside of me and when I would stop focusing , the feeling would also stop.. and I just told myself "Ok I'll just focus so much so that i'm out of my body" and it worked.. once I was far enough away from my body by simply focusing on the corner of my ceiling I was then able to move freely and I was completely out of paralysis.  Give it a shot and let us know how it works for you!

Peace!
