First of all I wanted to say that I have been in the ER for the past two days with severe abdominal pain, dehydration, Nausea, Severe anxiety, (didn't help matters) and chest pain.
I was feeling so weak that I had to be on a wheelchair to get inside the ER. It was not a fine weekend. :| I am getting a lot better but I am getting a stomach scope this week sometime. A little nervous about that but it's for the best. I been having bad acid reflex for months now.
Anyway, the doctor put me on Oxycodone for pain. I took one before bed because I was in a lot of pain. I was at home this time. I was on the computer browsing the forums and talking to a friend and the medicine hit me hard. I had to go sleep. The pain was gone though thank goodness. So the minute I lay down I am hearing voices like no other. Just like when I am in the hypnagogic state. What happened here? Was I in the Theta state quicker? I had no control over trying to have an OBE because the medicine was to strong. I just remember hearing lots of voices.
Also, I had an OBE the night before I went to the ER again and don't remember much but I did hear a voice say something like "it'll all be okay Cody." Or something very similar. Was pretty cool. I don't remember the OBE at all.
Was the Oxycodone putting me in the right state I needed to be in for an OBE? Can this happen with other Meds too?
That sounds more like an n.d.e. , with out the dieing part .The voice may of been a guard angel or your higher self . You might want to use a meditation to find out what your health problem is . DickSutphen said an old g.f. would go out of body after taking an asprin , this is way before he got in to a.p. and past lives , and it scared them . desert rat
It's fairly normal to hear things in theta state, but not so normal to be alert of them or remember them. So I would say this happened because you were falling asleep so fast. It didn't leave your mind much time to become disoriented like when people normally fall asleep.
The voices can be anyone, so you shouldn't believe everything they say. I've heard some say things that were just lies.

You mean an OOBE? :-D
I just realized rat said NDE
I do not believe I was dieing. I felt wonderful and slept like a baby.
I guess there is nothing to worry about! Certain medications seem to get you to the hypnagogic state a little earlier than normal! I think the same is happening to you!
Anyway I hope you feel better soon!
Cheers!

I'm guessing it was a combination of factors, your health, possibly you were feeling relieved because the pain had gone, possibly the previous days had left you drained, plus the meds probably contributed to you going into hypnogogia very rapidly.
I find that a small dose of amitriptiyline at night gives a good night's sleep, plus tends to make me wake up slowly in the morning, ideal for hypnogogia, MABA, etc. Drugs can do that. Hope you're feeling better now.
I think not to worry about that. You have heard the voice which says "you'll be okay" So, don't worry you will be fine.
