I think I had an OBE, very weird though

First, I hope everyone had a good 2010 and good wishes for a happy new year.

So i was reading "Seth, Speaks, The Eternal Validity of the Soul" I read a lot and went to bed.  I immediately noticed and felt after closing my eyes that  something would happen, just a feeling.  I laid down on my side and started hearing the buzz on my ears, then I just felt like floating up and just thinking "just let whatever happen, happen" then I remember being in the middle of the living room and seeing my niece who is visiting from California, she seemed a lot younger and I floated down to her and asked her "do you see me?" " do you know who I am?" and she just nodded her head as if saying yes but didn't say a word, then I said to her I will go check on mom and decided to leave out of a window and it was as if some sort of wind was preventing me from going out but finally I floated out of that room and I was what it seemed like 100 stories up in the air right next to a tall building and I could see the lights of the city down below.  I thought I'll just let myself drop and see how long it takes me to get down and I did, I didn't feel any sensations of wind or anything else, just the lights below began to get bigger and bigger and then I returned to the physical.

The weird thing is that from the moment I saw myself in that room everything seemed as if I belonged there, everything seemed familiar and from the moment I closed my eyes until I returned to the physical I did not lose awareness at all but when I returned I said to myself, where was I? waht was that place?

Something I read from the book Seth is that we actually live all our experiences or lives or reincarnations simultaneously and that when we enter other realities that we may be able to peek into those lives so I wonder if that is what I did because the little girl seemed as real as I see my niece right now.

Very interesting experience.

Something I read from the book Seth is that we actually live all our experiences or lives or reincarnations simultaneously and that when we enter other realities that we may be able to peek into those lives so I wonder if that is what I did because the little girl seemed as real as I see my niece right now.

I had an experience where I was asking about past-lives and the man that I was speaking to pointed at this portal thing that just appeared in front of us, and said they are always around you, anytime you want to see them.  That wasn't verbatim, but that is basically what he was saying.  I looked at the portal and I could see that there was movement in it, but I couldn't make out much. 

I didn't realize it at the time, but after reading your comment it makes perfect sense to me.  I think perhaps these portals are like wormholes, if you will, and if I wanted to see a particular past-life that I only needed to do was go into the portal.  I'm sure there's more to it than that, but you get the idea.

I don't know why it didn't dawn on me when I was having the experience.  For some reason my mind didn't take the portals as a literal thing, I think I was looking at it in a metaphorical sense.

mcdwg,  Sometimes windows can be portals. Many people have mentioned that mirrors serve as portals in their OBEs.
About seeing your niece   - Do you think that she was actually awake or asleep when you saw her OOB? If asleep she may have been dreaming or could have been OOB herself. If she was awake there is a chance that she may have actually have seen you OOB.

To Naykid: Several months ago, while attempting an OBE and in almost a trance-like state, I had heard the words "There are portals all around you." It was a woman's voice, but not my own. Also, weeks later, while preparing for an OBE, part of my affirmations was the desire to experience some of my past lives. During the OBE, I was ushered through various "doors," each one leading to a different life/time period. I didn't stay long in each, or it did not seem so. I sensed I had a guide with me during the entire experience. It was amazing. My best OBE ever.

I have seen portals before when phasing leading to different environments for example space, a forest, an island, it was really nice but I have not seen them recently.

I think I've done phasing... I'm not sure. lol   I was just going to sleep one night and got the whole swirling stuff. ( I get that right away, I thought it was just a normal thing people saw when they closed their eyes.) anyways, once I saw a first person view of being in a grave, but it wasn't filled yet.  I drew that picture...It looks pretty cool. 

Another time, I was actually meditating, saw the swirly, swirls and saw me being burned to death, as a witch... my friend turned me in.  Most of the time though when I see this swirling stuff and it gets slower, as CF described in one of her posts, which I don't think I would have taken notice until reading her comment..,  I see an open field with a few flowers.  I've never "walked" into the scene, and I have no idea why.  It feels easy enough, I just seem to drift after that.  Weird.

Even though I've had portals in some of my experience, for some reason, they've never seemed important.  Until now.

It sounds amazing.  Do you remember much when you walked through the various doors?  I would love to hear more about those experiences!
