Perceived length of time

I still lack a first OoBE and AP. During all the research I've done I have stumbled upon a question which I actually haven't found much written or spoken info about.

By now I have read many many stories of peoples' Astral Projecting and OoBE adventures and many of them feels like they would have required half hours, if not hours, to pass in real life time. On the other hand I read in "A Practical Guidebook" that one should be happy if he can experience an OoBE longer than two minutes (I take it they mean real life time in this case). I'm also open for the possibility that one minute in real life can feel - be perceived as - much longer when on the Astral Planes etc.

Those of you who frequently projects - roughly how long would you say your average AP/OoBE duration feels like?

What kind of scares me a little bit is the thought of entering these supposedly magnificent planes only to have a short couple of minutes to enjoy it. I hope that the Astral time can feel longer than the potentially short time that passes here on earth.

Time is different in the astral. I'd say that 1 min there may be about 15 min here. I've had projections that have lasted all night. Some only about 5 min. They differ.

Most of the time I do 30-45 getting to the phase and about 10-15 mins in the Astral. Lately do to Isochronic Tones it has better quicker, about 20-25 mins getting to phase now, still about 10-15 mins in the Astral. Any longer then that I start to forget what is occurring, there is alot of things that can occur in Astral in 10-15 mins.  I like to log a report after every session I have, makes it easier to see what it is you are doing right or wrong and where did you travel to this time. Most importantly is how you are progressing.

I actually filmed and recorded my physical body many times during the OBE. Key indicators that caught on tape were when the vibrations occurred, I would see my eyes flinch a little. I would also document the time I went to sleep and on immediate awake.

Anyways, in my first experiment that I performed back in early 1990's. The OBE was brief, about one to three minutes long on the spiritual side, but physical it was 10-15 minutes. I have also done work with my pets during my obe, also validating precognitive experiences. I have had experiences that lasted 30 minutes on the otherside, thought I would never return but did. When I awakened, I couldn't remember nothing but knew that I projected. Went to the bathroom and awhile 10-15mins past, there was a trigger and the OBE experienced dumped. Grabbed the tape recorder and narrated. When I pen'd the experience down to paper - it was 11 pages front / back...

Physical time is slower than astral time. What one minute in the physical is seven minutes in heaven...: )

Thank you very much for your replies! It feels good to know that with enough experience and skill, there is a good chance to spend quite a significant amount of time in the Astral (as opposed to a mere 30 - 90 seconds or so). I guess it would be helpful to make a decision, a goal, for the next projection in beforehand. For instance - the next time I successfully Project I will concentrate on talking to and getting to know my spirit guide etc. Rushing in there without a goal (especially as a first timer), completely excited, wanting to try everything imaginable at once - that can't be very productive.

What would be a good goal for someone's first OoBE/AP?
Meeting my spirit guide is something I very much would like to do. I'm sure that would be a very valuable event!

i can OBe/AP whilst driveing a car (safely) and i gotta tell ya the time frames are the same in my experiences as in the non-physical and the physical, their is no way i can according to a above post AP for 30 seconds whilst driveing a car at around 100/110 km/h as my longest for AP (have projected higher than Astral plaine whilst driveing (safely) is around 2 seconds my longest OBe is over 5 seconds at around the same speed, their is no way this time is or was around 75 seconds...one day i'll be able to, but at this time frame for me impossiable...

i think i know why this is now, thankyou for that OPer getting that line of thinking going, i think you will find in time it (can/could-induced) work both ways as time length in non-physical and physical one longer one shorter and visa versa, for reasons i wont go into (body and the other physical matter), but my experiences the time are the same in the non/physical world...

i'm sure you will be OBe/AP soon should you be on the right path...

thanx again...

good luck

My RTZ projections are short, 30 secs to a couple of minutes.

My astral projections can last maybe half an hour but if I stay out that long I'll only remember fragments. I  can only recall up to a couple of minutes of continuous projection.

"RTZ" projections are the same as real time, hence the term 'real time zone.'  But projecting in the RTZ is more difficult than just going to the astral, because you are more at home in the astral, at least when projecting.

My mentor has two extreme examples of time distortion when projecting.  Once, he made it out of his body, floated around the astral for what he gauged to be fifteen seconds, and returned.  Upon looking at his clock he saw that over an hour had passed.

On another projection, he was out of his body for 30 minutes real time, and 15 years astral time.  yes, 15 years.

I personally get the impression that time isn't as linear in the Astral as it is in the physical.  Remember time is a physical construct, which you should be inpervious to in the astral.

When you are snoozing in sleep. Like in a morning when you keep hitting the snooze button. How weired does time seem to you then? Like you feel like you can wait for the cycle to come around again and you wont be late, and this feels particularly normal.  Sometimes it can feel like 1 second passes before the damn alarm is going off again, other times it can feel like a long time.  I dont know maybe this is just because of being sleepy obviously. But when in that state, it feels normal.

Interesting view there. From what I can understand, having read all replies to my question, I can more or less forget about any correlation when it comes to time between the physical world and the Astral. Because, like you've said - time doesn't exist there. To be honest, I should have thought of this before I even asked the question. But all of this is still very new to me and it's quite a lot to take in.

Thanks again to all of you who have replied to me - very interesting and helpful to read all your views and experiences about this! I'm happy to know that a ten second long Projection doesn't necessarily have to feel that short when you're experiencing it (as long as I haven't misunderstood anything).
