Title: Phantom limbs ...control?
Post by: Lookedynamixhales on February 21, 2013, 00:33:02
When i have been phasing/meditating the first part of my body to obtain the phantom limb syndrome will be my forearms and hands...at first my thumb and index finger feel like they lift off then eventually the whole hand and forearm go.... what i would like to know is how to control them as i have read a lot of posts regarding their movement.

The symptoms i get are the following :

Complete numbness of partial arms,
feeling of arms a few inches above original arms,
slow up and down bobbing feeling,
twisting and turning.

If anyone has input please respond  :-D

The only way I know that you could control them is by visualizing yourself rubbing your hands together, or clapping.

By using them, they won't be wandering aimlessly any more.

But, I just passively observe them. By using them, you are returning your focus to your physical body, which is exactly what you don't want to do.

Phantom Limbs are a "sign post" of the NPR. Not everyone gets them though.

Just like with all the other sign posts, it's best to just passively observe them and stay the course!  :-)

Kind of, the rubbing the hands helps to anchor you by emphasizing on the tactile. The rubbing the hands is more immediate.

The visualizing starts just as it says, visualizing, but after awhile you start to feel what you are seeing.

Both are very helpful!  :-)

I have never felt the sensations of phantom limbs but I read somewhere that imagining you have no body at all can help. Just do this long enough to stop the feeling. Good luck.

It's a dichotomy isn't it?

On one hand we focus ourselves away from physical sensations... on the other an OOBE can be instigated by another awareness of the other nonphysical physical.

Most of my experiences are tactile.

My involuntary phantom limbs that rise out during SP are very different than my nonphysical voluntary movement. The phantom limbs move as though in slow motion... the voluntary nonphysical limbs move and feel almost exactly like my physical limbs.

It certainly is. On one hand, we're losing all awareness of our physical body while simultaneously we are aware that our astral or etheric body is not our physical body and do all this thinking without completely destabilizing the experience. It's a simple yet complicated juggling act of our consciousness.

Funny, I always think of phantom limbs as something else, hehe.

I have had this sensation before, but whenever I successfully go oob, I don't feel my physical body, it's just my other one.
