Perhaps the hypnagogic state is harder to recognize than I thought. It is supposed to be on the edge of dreaming, right? The breathing is a nice tool to relax the body. From 10 per minute and slower, it causes a sort of meditative state. The movement of the lungs moves the entire rest of the body. Anything that is not moved by the breath still needs to be relaxed, and bringing the attention there begins the process of relaxing that spot. My favorite trance induction is the technique in Astral Dynamics with the smoke rings. It is supposed to energize the primary centers as well as inducing a trance. Then I count down from 10, 25, 50, 100, or some other number. Slowing down the breathing also slows the internal dialogue. Brushing aside thoughts, relaxing the body, and yet keeping the mind awake with specific purposes like counting or visualizing all seem to combine to form a decent trance for me. In the hypnagogic state, though, aren't the mental creations supposed to go off on their own?

I think the importance of a good relaxation technique cannot be stressed enough here and i am gonna make a wild statement and say that most people who try to project dont even get into the hypnogogic stage and get frustrated and give up too easily (me included!!)
Just getting to this stage is a toughie in itself! so i am gonna give a link to a site written by a fellow suffolk born englander which really tells you how to stretch every muscle group among other things!!

if you dont agreee with me then please say because I would love to hear other peoples opinions on this.

anyway thats my 10 quids worth if you read this robert bruce and all the other guys who run this forum thank you so much it has improved my life more than words can say.

    cheers guys, Lysear
