Phasing while falling asleep?

Hi everyone,

Here is a question which I'm not sure how to pose. But, I'll try anyway - bear with me?

Sometimes when I'm falling asleep or trying to, it feels like my brain/mind has a wave go through it. It's very difficult to explain but it's like it's trying to fall asleep but not being allowed to. Here's an example of when it might happen - midnight, I'm tired and just want to fall asleep, wife (God bless her) keeps asking questions about something on her mind so I just can't complete the falling asleep cycle. I'm on the verge of conciousness because I care about her and want to respond, but everything else in me is dropping away.

Is there any relation in this to phasing, or trancing, or....I don't know what?

Thanks!

That is awesome because most times people fight the will to sleep in order to get into a trance. If you let your body fall sleep while you're mind is awake then you are definitely on the way to deep trance. In my experience when I have been able to keep my mind awake while my body falls asleep, I just start feeling very light, I stare at the blackness and I start seeing cloud like images and sometimes sparks of light so at that point I know something will happen soon.

Hi mcdwg,

So what is that feeling I'm experiencing? It feels like my mind is trying to pass out/go to unconcious but it's being forced to remain somewhat aware - maybe I'm answering the question myself but I guess I'd like some reinforcement on the point.

so let me ask you, do you want to fall asleep and can't or do you welcome the feeling of your mind being aware but your body falling asleep?

I think the sensations might be different from person to person. I can only talk about my experience and I can tell you when I want to experience a phasing I try to keep my mind aware while my body falls asleep, I think I try this most nights but I have been able to achieve a phasing about five or six times, and I don't force anything, I just let it it happen.

Again in my opinion the initial senssations that you have of being forced to stay aware may be your individual experience but you're definitely going into a trance and a phasing if you can keep that awareness.

Hi mcdwg,

Gothca.

Well, I want to fall asleep but I'm being forced to stay aware. From what you're saying, it seems like this is a way I can harness a trance, and it's what I was hoping. So at those times I'm kind of close to projection territory.

I also try to project from meditation where I calm my body down but keep my awareness focused. At those times it's completely intentional. I've gotten to a point where I lose feeling of my extremities while still aware of everything so I've got a ways to go via that route.

For me phasings have been way simpler than the usual techniques for AP where you have to induce the vibrations.

Phasing has also been more meaningful in the way that I have experienced a lot more than AP's.

Phasings have lasted a lot longer than AP's that have only lasted a few seconds and everythig is blurry but on the other hand everyhing seems clearer and I am able to do more things while phasing.

In a nutshell I ptracticed for three months until I got my first AP and practiced only about a week I think for the first phasing, I still have a ways to go though.

:D ROFL!!
My girlfriend does the same thing... like, GEEZE... WOULD YOU LET ME SLEEP PLEASE?!!  LOL

I'd say that is very close to the same thing as "phasing"... the only difference is that you're allowing your consciousness to "slip away".  You want to keep your consciousness while the body falls asleep.

I've been studying a lot of what Frank was going on about and I've found it much easier to "phase" than to do the classic "out of body" thing.
