Whenever I try to project I feel the sensation of something pushing/pulling against the side of my body I'm trying to project from. I think this is a good thing, because it must mean I'm making progress, but whenever I get to this point where I feel like I'm ready to project, one of two things happen; 1) I get too excited and "wake up" from my relaxed state or 2) the physical sensation gets uncomfortable and I move, thus losing the opportunity to project.

has this happened to anybody else? I'm not afraid to have an OOBE, obviously, because it's something I really want to do. the sinking feeling doesn't bother me, it's the pressure when I'm projecting. how long is this part supposed to last? a few minutes? maybe If I know I'll be more likely to get past it. I don't know what I can do about getting excited. as soon as I realize I might project my heart speeds up - I can't help it!

suggestions please?

Also, I want to ask if it's possible to have an OBE or AP while listening to music, or recalling music. sometimes early in the morning or in the middle of the night if I wake up I find myself listening to familiar songs (sometimes with variations) but very realistically. so realistic, in fact, the first time this started happening to me I'd roll over to put away my walkman or turn up the volume only to find i didn't even have my headphones on.

i did an obe last day with a lot of music going on in the background. . it doesnt seem to interfere if your mind is well set and your technique is fine tuned

I've never had one while listening to music - then again I've never tried (but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible).  However, regularly I "awake" to the sound of music, which triggers my OBE.  I don't get pre-exit vibrations, but I do hear music.  The music is often pop music and it sounds like it's coming from an old transistor radio in another room of the house.  It's normally a familiar tune.  The first time it happened, I seriously thought someone was in our garden with a radio!!

I once heard a very familiar piece of music (Cocteau Twins) which sounded like it was being played by my ear.  It was breathtakingly beautiful, much better than the original!  I could hear each chord, each instrument separately and together.  I simply lay there and listened for a few minutes.

I have found that music (and sounds in general) are good "tells" that I am about to have an OBE, in that my awareness "wakes up" when my inner ears start to hear noise.

In fact, recalling music is possibly a very good way to have an OBE.  If you can "lose" yourself in the music, you may find you've switched focus without thinking about it too much!

Good luck!

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

It helps to have a regular meditation practice. The one taught by Eric Pepin (http://higherbalance.com) was the one which finally worked for me. As side effects of doing the meditation in his main program, the pre-projection symptoms started to come back and I was able to let them happen without breaking the experience through my reaction to it. There were even a couple of spontaneous remote viewing experiences that seemed as clear as looking with my physical eyes, but more vivid.
