Problem In RTZ, How to Fix?

Over the past year or so, I have had several unpleasant experiences similar to one another, and was wondering if anyone has had any experiences like this or any ideas as to how to prevent the same thing happening again.

I use the term RTZ (Real Time Zone, I think?), but if this is not correct by all means let me know!  What happens is that I feel as if I am waking up, getting out of bed, and everything is where it should be in the room.  The lighting is as it is when I truly awaken afterwards, and a few times I have looked at the clock near my bed which, upon waking, verifies that I am not just dreaming.  The experiences also have a more substantial feel than a dream.  Unfortunately I usually think I actually am awake and if I could realize otherwise at the beginning that would probably help.  I'm not sure how to go about doing that, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I go into the hallway outside the bedroom and flip the lightswitch up to turn the light on, but it doesn't turn on.  I figure the bulb must have burned out and go to the next light down the hallway.  Doesn't work either.  I go to the next light, a bit unnerved now, and that doesn't work either, at which point I become scared, realize what's happening but not enough to become unafraid, and rush back to my body to wake up.

It happens so suddenly and quickly that I am usually caught off-guard and do not register what is happening (because I think I really have woken up) until it is too late and I am scared because of the lights.  Sounds silly but when it's happening it is frightening.  Any advice welcomed, thanks!

Similar thing happens to me. When I left my body in RTZ I was standing next to my bed and I didn't really know if I'm really awake or I'm having an OBE. I go to the window in my room and look through it for a couple of seconds and everything was on it's place, then I turn around and look in to my bed and saw uncovered sheets and empty bed and I said "Man I'm really awake", but something was strange, I came back to the window and put my arm through closed window and mystery was solved.

Some tips for you:
- Look in to your bed and see if there is a body.
- Try to fly.
- Try to go through matter (wall, window, door...)

This should certainly help you to figure out what is happening. ;)

Thanks for the quick response, OBEvanCHERNOBIL!  I will give that a go the next time this happens, or try anyhow.  Perhaps if I get into a habit of checking something ("Is my body still in the bed?" is a pretty sure-fire idea ) to verify whether I am actually awake whenever I get out of bed, I'll do it in this instance as well.

Maybe your mind will tricks you, maybe you will see empty bed but you are in it. Better you use the other two tips instead :)

I made the habit through reality checks.I try to turn on my bedside light as they never turn on when I am asleep. Now when I wake up in a dream in bed at night I automaticaly reach/think of the light  (something I have found I never do when actually awake). Even though I do not have my touch light anymore, its happens to be which ever side of the bed I reach to, when asleep.

Untill now counting to 20 fast works for me. If I'm not awake I'll get confused and wont manage to count very well, which will make me aware of my state.

That's a good idea too!  That is true, numbers can be pretty confusing when you're not awake, lol.  Thanks, I will try that whenever this happens again  :-)
