I haven't actually projected yet sorry, but i'm almost there and i'll take a shot at your questions anyway.

1. Well it usually takes me about the same to get to a stage where i'm on the edge of seperation. I don't think it matters how long it takes.
2. I get the eye thing too, but usually after longer than a few minutes. I was thinking it was something like REM (Random Eye Movement) which you getting during dreams when you're aslee i believe.
3. I've been told that pulsing in the chest during projection attempts could actually be the heart chakra. I'm not sure if it's anything to worry about or not.

That's the best i can do. Sounds like you're progressing nicely as well!

Hey m0d0!
Congratulations on your progress!  Like you, I am working steadily at achieving that infamous state known as OBE and the Astral Realm.  Although i'm not a projector (yet) I thought it would be nice for you to hear some opinions from another person who is going through the same thing.

Your experiences sound very familiar to mine.  In fact, I would like to point out that the very first time I tried Astral Projecting, was kind of by accident.  Basically, I was attempting to go to sleep while I lied motionless in bed.  I was really bored .. my mind wasn't tired, but my body was exhausted.  Because I was bored, I really had nothing to think about.  Nothing was really troubling me, so my mind was pretty empty.  (Is that bad or good?  lol)

Anyway, I very soon realized that body had fallen asleep.  But I was aware of it!  So I thought "Hey this is kind of cool!", so I tried harder to focus on the black void and think of nothing, when I too encountered the strange vibrations you experienced!  This very confusing, startling experience scared me, and it caused me to snap out of it very quickly.

Quite some time has passed since that experience, and just recently I found out what I went through is very common!  Not only that, I realized I stumbled upon the techniques to astral project purely by accident!  But nonetheless, I have been attempting to try out new techniques and get back to that point recently.  Just as you have.

Hopefully by reading this, you see that it's very possible for you to get results on your very first try.  It's not common, but it does happen more and more.  The "gift" you have is the ability to focus very well already.  Other people need to develop their skills more to get to that point.  So essentially, it just takes them more time and patience.. but we all get there at some point.

25 Minutes is a pretty common time to meditate.  I spend about 20-30 minutes before entering that "trance" state.  But this can vary quite a bit, depending on many situations.  (Lighting, relaxation, mental energy, exhaustion, etc.)  In time, you will actually get better at this, and that 25 minutes will seem like a long time.  Remember, Robert Bruce has stated he can enter a trance state within 5 minutes.  But also remember, he has (if my memory serves me well) 25 years worth of experience doing this!

The "eye" thing you are referring to is what is commonly referred to as your "3rd eye".  It is centered directly between your two brows.  This 3rd eye is believed to be a tremendous focal point for visualization and concentration.  NOTE: There is a really interesting bit of information on this website in the download section about the human brain, and there is a special section in the front of the brain which is believed to assist in some kind of intense visualization when the eyes are rolled back.  Especially during sleep.  This is in the exact location the 3rd eye is referred to.  Check it out, it's pretty interesting.

As for your pulsing heart, i'm pretty new myself and have been running in to this situation quite a bit.  Just last night, I experienced my heart chakra.  (Not my actual heart)  And it was beating 3-4 times faster than my normal heart beat.  Very strange!  BUT, I also have a very high physical heart beat, and I believe this is caused due to elevated levels of anxiety.  You are excited.  I can't think of anything else.. though I have read many reports of accelerated heart pulses being a normal thing, to a point.  It's up to you to find out if you are truly anxious and excited, which results in adrenaline being released in to your system (which is normal according to Robert Bruce, but must be IGNORED!) and try to control it better.

It sounded like you were just about there, especially considering you experienced the infamous "vibrations" everyone talks about.  But remember, it's pretty easy to get your chakra heart confused with your real heart.  Unless you're sure you can feel it throbbing and pumping through your system with massive force.  (Which I do)

After this point, visualizing yourself "outside" of your body (in 1st person), exerts pressure on your astral self.. causing a seperation, or "exit mode".  That's why the ROPE technique is so great, because you are in a constant state of applying pressure to your astral body.

Now if only I could get the hang of that ROPE technique.  I do better at staring at blackness than I do climbing the ROPE!

I hope this answers your questions.  The more and more you do this, the more you will realize is happening.  At least for me, the experience is always different, .. many sensations, heart chakra pulses, sounds, everything changes during each experience.  Just pay attention to them and you will see that it's actually pretty "normal" once you get used to it!

Isn't this great?  [:)]

Good luck!

m0d0, The more you practice the less intense everything feels. Maybe the quicker you can reach these states the better. One day when i tried projection in the afternoon I was in the heavy vibration state for about an hour with no luck, so maybe it is best to limit your time.
In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

1) It takes me between 10 and 15 minutes, so I'd say that was normal, yeah.  Hell, if it works, it works!

2) I hadn't considered the possibility that the eye thing is REM (good thinking, ES), but it's certainly normal.  When I attempt to AP, it seems that every muscle in my body vibrates.

3) As has been said, the racing heart is normal and will diminish over time.  My heart feels like it's beating about 200 times a minute!

Above all else, keep at it!  You're almost there!  I find that ROPE becomes easier when I think of my body as being really heavy, so that it's a struggle to 'pull myself up', as it were.

Good luck! [:)]

Hey all.

Thanx for all your encouraging replies. It's nice to know theres so much support on this site.

I was reading Robert Bruces OBE Treatise and found some information.

The eye thing -

"Rapid Eye Movement, commonly called the 'REM' state, often happens during an
oobe attempt - often, but not always. This is a natural event triggered by the trance state
when the physical body is very tired - when the physical body falls into a deeper sleep
than is actually required, but with the mind still being held awake. The REM condition
signposts the ideal time to have a lucid dream, as this indicates the dream mind is
becoming active. If fear or other difficulties make OOBE difficult I suggest the projector
focus on having a lucid dream at this time, as this will give some type of related out of
body experience which will help prepare them for a full blown conscious exit OOBE later
on. At this time a 'conscious' lucid dream becomes a viable alternative to a conscious
OOBE, especially if REM activity is disturbing and breaking the concentration of the
projector. Keep in mind here that a lucid dream can be converted into a Real Time or
astral projection if the projector focuses on and 'feels' for their body. They will then either
project back to their body, or near to it, and a full OOBE can continue, or is then much
easier to attain." (Robert Bruce, OBE Treatise)

The heart thing -

"The heart chakra is forced to provide a lot of energy, to generate the projectable
double, during an awake induced OBE attempt. Excessive heart center activity, and all
other heavy exit sensations, are 'caused' by the presence of 'awake' consciousness, which
cause a plethora of bio-energetic conflicts to arise. To support this: think how easily you
project out of body when your mind is asleep, and out of the bio-energetic equation?" - (Robert Bruce, OBE Treatise)

So definately some questions answered there!! [:D]

I think what i'm going to do is continue to attempt AP, like some of you's said. If you keep at it your body compensates. I think i'm also going to work on boosting my Chakras (Especially my heart). It can only be a good thing.

One things for sure, were all on the right path and theres no need to run. Once we're there we'll have all the time in the (astral)world. And for those of you who are already there, save me a seat next to window, i wanna room with a view hehee.

Thanx again for you help in answering my questions (If anyone else has anything to add, please post. I'll put u on my christmas list [:o)] )

Cheers

Mo!

Hey all,

As you probably know (From my previous posts) I am what could be considered a newbie.

I tried for an AP just before. No sucess but i feel im progressing.

This is how it happened -

1) Started listening to Brain Wave Generator (Deep meditation)
2) Relaxed my body
3) Started 'Mind Awake, Body Asleep'
4) Started ROPE exercise

It was only a couple of minutes after starting ROPE that my heart started the throb, and i mean THROB! However because i'd experienced the throbbing last time i attempted AP, i was prepared for it and just remained focussed. THEN something new happened. It felt like my eyes and the muscles around them were randomly firing in spasms. It was a very weird feeling, certianly one i hadnt had before. I did my best to remain focussed but i'd be lieing if i said it didnt break my concentration a little (I then stopped climbing the ROPE).

My heart stopped beating fast, and my eye muscles slowed down. I realised that this was ending. I didnt want it too, so with a sudden burst of will and concentration i started to climb ROPE once again. Like clock work my heart started racing, followed by my eye spasms. After this little vibrations started to happen. It felt like somebody was gently shaking the base of my (Office style) chair.

After a few minutes of these vibrations, i decided to stop the session because my heart had been beating immensly (I could feel the veins pulsing with every beat). I just thought it best i take small steps and play safe, rather than jumping in the deep end.

The strange thing is all the things decribed above happened within 25 minutes of me actually starting.

This leads me to the questions -

1) 25 minutes sounds a little fast, i thought it'd take hours?
2) What was the eye thing?
3) What can be done about the pulsing heart?

I am currently reading through (With a fine tooth comb) Robert Bruce's Treatise on OBE. So i'm sure i'll find somethings to answer my questions.

But please if any of you's can give me some insight, i'd sure appreciate it.

thanx for reading.
