projecting on your side

The way I read it was the projecting on the right side is good but on the left side is bad. This applies to sleeping, too. One reason given was that being on your left side puts pressure on the heart and that being on your right side does not. Another was that the channel on the right side of shushumna tends to have more negativity associated with it while the one on the left is more positive and that sleeping on the right side puts pressure on the channel. Then again, the left and right channels are supposed to be reversed on men and women. If women are advised to sleep on their right side as well as men it must not be because of the channels on the left and right sides of shushumna. As to pressure on the heart, I thought that the heart was basically in the middle. It is true that the left lung has only two sections while the right has three and that this is to make room for the heart, though, so maybe the thing about being on your right side could be to help the heart. In any case, why shouldn't it be possible to project on either side? It is better for your back.

Just because we're on the subject, here is a break down of all positions that I've either had an OBE, partial OBE (like half in, half out), or OBE related symptoms (like vibes, being in the black void, etc):

Right Side: 20.6%
Left Side: 9.5%
Stomach: 19%
Back: 17.4%
Unknown: 33.3%

Although when I consciously practice to project, I always start on my back.

Hi guys!
WOW! Tom!  My mental movie screen had me flipping back and forth and all over the place as you went from left to right to left to right, to organs and such.  Thanks for the exercise in visual imagery! LOL!

Anyway, I've had successful projections for many various positions (non-sexual of course .. well ... there was that time my wife and I were snuggling in the spoon position).  I've projected out while on my left side, in fetal position, on my stomach face down, on my back with legs apart and on my back with legs crossed at the feet.  The one thing I do notice about lying on either side, is that after a while, my shoulders get sore from the added body weight on them ... so that *could* ultimately reduce the length of an obe.  Also, there's that arm going asleep problem from lying on the stomach.

Cheers!

i read in the post about the physical relaxation tek's that frank has been sharing that it was thought that side projecting was impossible or not very likely.  i'm not sure posted it but i thought i would post otherwise.  looks like there are a bunch of you who have been doing it though.  for some reason i find it a lot easier to project from my side, but much harder to reach any level of trance unless my back is underneaath of me.

Whenever I rest on my side, whichever arm is on the bottom falls asleep, so that's no good for me.  And I can't lay on my back at all, due to complications from a car accident.  So I'm pretty much limited to my stomach (which is uncomfortable on my neck, but sometimes I manage not to get a headache).
The only two times I think I might have awakened to a semi-OBE state, I was on my stomach.  For what it's worth.

this is just to let everyone know that the last two or three projections i've had were from me lying on my side.  they were very comfortable and i popped out w/ ease.  unfortunately i woke up to the vibrations every time so they weren't completely conscious projections.  i know there is this universal think that projecting from your side is unfavorable if not impossible but it's whatever feels most comfortable to you, not what the book says.  it may be worth a shot to some of you . happy flying
